Sonaria runs on three stacked layers: a global season clock, short random weather, and rarer map-wide disasters. Seasons set your food multiplier and unlock certain weather. Weather shifts every few minutes with buffs, debuffs, or shelter checks. Disasters hit harder, can stack, and block weather-change tokens until they end. Use the cards below to compare effects, triggers, and linked patterns side by side.

Seasons
All servers share one global fifteen-minute cycle in fixed order: Mythic, Spring, Summer, Drought, Fall, Famine, Sakura, Winter. Each season slot lasts about two minutes. Food multipliers and season-only spawns (like Sweet Explorer Tokens in Sakura or Monster Exploration Tokens in Drought and Famine) apply for the whole slot.

How the three layers interact
Seasons tick on a shared server clock. Weather rolls on top and usually lasts a few minutes. Disasters sit above both and can override normal weather rules, including blocking Change Weather abilities and summon tokens while active.
Plan around the season first (food growth, frostbite, token spawns), then check what weather is running (water refill, burn ticks, visibility), and finally watch for disasters that change the whole map.
Season timing and food planning
Every server follows the same global rotation: Mythic, Spring, Summer, Drought, Fall, Famine, Sakura, then Winter. Each season slot lasts about two minutes inside a fifteen-minute full loop, so the clock is predictable once you know where you are in the cycle.
Spring is the best gathering window at 1.25x food. Summer and Sakura still help at 1.15x. Famine and Winter drop to 0.8x, so stock up or move to safer biomes before those hit. Mythic, Drought, and Fall sit at 1.0x with side effects instead of food swings: faster aging in Mythic, faster water drain in Drought, and mostly visual change in Fall.
New servers start in Summer until they sync with the global cycle, so do not assume Mythic is first on a fresh realm.
Weather: shelter, water, and forced changes
Most weather lasts about five minutes. Neutral patterns like Sunny, Cloudy, and Clear Skies are free breathing room. Rain, Sunshower, and Thunderstorm refill water and boost takeoff, which fliers love. Snow and Blizzard demand shelter or hypothermia stacks fast in Winter and Famine.
Flowering only appears during Spring, Sakura, or Summer and doubles egg gestation speed, so breeders watch those seasons closely. Blue Moon is ability-only: big regen, half damage taken, and juveniles become immune to combat damage for the duration.
Acid Rain poisons unsheltered creatures and contaminates water under localized clouds. Heat Wave and Superheated burn exposed players and dry water; Superheated is volcano-biome specific and pairs with eruption activity. Ash Fall follows eruptions with low visibility and extra stamina drain.
Change Weather can force Clear Skies out of Rain or Snow. Thunderstorm and Acid Rain tokens force their pattern directly. Random Weather Token picks from the standard pool.
Natural disasters and stacking rules
Disasters can overlap. While any disaster is active, Change Weather abilities and weather tokens will not work, so plan token use before a storm chain starts.
In Main Realm, affected zones show on the minimap. Hardcore Realm runs the same disasters but they last longer, so shelter and stamina planning matter more there.
| Disaster | Main risk | Common trigger |
|---|---|---|
| Blood Moon | +50% damage, regen, and bite speed at night | Blood Moon Summon Token or natural night event |
| Earthquake | Map shake, injury ticks, falling debris (~1 min) | Earthquake Summon Token |
| Flood | Sea rise plus Storming debuff in floodwater | Often follows Thunderstorm |
| Hurricane | Wind knockback and debris damage | Hurricane Summon Token |
| Tornado | Drag-and-escape minigame, Violent Winds buff | Tornado token or Wind Storm weather |
| Volcanic Eruption | Meteors, Ashy Lungs (-25% stamina regen), then Ash Fall | Volcanic Eruption Summon Token |
Thunderstorm frequently chains into Flood, so expect water levels to keep rising after the storm icon fades. Wind Storm can spawn a Tornado while hurricanes share the same wind family. Eruptions lead into Ash Fall weather when the main event ends.
Common mistakes
- Grazing through Winter or Famine without checking the food multiplier.
- Staying outside during Acid Rain, Heat Wave, or Blizzard because the debuff icon looks mild at first.
- Burning a Change Weather token during an active disaster (it will not fire).
- Assuming Thunderstorm ends the danger when Flood is still rising.
- Ignoring Flowering during Spring/Sakura/Summer breeding runs.
Token quick reference
Summon tokens force specific patterns when no disaster is blocking weather changes: Acid Rain, Thunderstorm (often leading to Flood), Tornado, Volcanic Eruption, Earthquake, Blood Moon, and Hurricane each map to their named disaster or weather. Random Weather Token rolls standard weather only, not disasters.
FAQ
What order do seasons run in?
The global cycle is Mythic, then Spring, Summer, Drought, Fall, Famine, Sakura, and Winter. Every server follows that same order on a shared fifteen-minute loop.
Which season is best for gathering food?
Spring at 1.25x is the strongest food multiplier. Summer and Sakura are still good at 1.15x. Avoid relying on Famine and Winter for farming; both sit at 0.8x.
Why will my weather token not work?
Natural disasters block Change Weather abilities and weather summon tokens while they are active. Wait until every disaster on the map ends, then use the token again.
Does Thunderstorm always cause a Flood?
Not every time, but Thunderstorm frequently triggers Flood afterward. Treat heavy storm weather as a warning that sea level may keep rising even after the thunder icon ends.
What is the difference between Snow and Blizzard?
Snow is lighter cold weather with a small takeoff boost. Blizzard is severe winter weather that inflicts Hypothermia and spawns snow piles and ice spikes. Blizzard only appears during Winter or Famine.
Can multiple disasters happen at once?
Yes. Disasters can stack, which is why minimap zone markers and shelter planning matter during busy weather windows.
