Materials are saved resources for later upgrades, crafts, unlocks, event shops, gacha routes, and utility steps in Blox Fruits. Some come from normal enemies, some come from bosses or sea events, and some behave more like temporary currency than permanent drops.
Rarity gives a quick scarcity clue, but the real question is what the material lets you do. Scrap Metal and Leather are Common, yet they show up in many upgrade routes. Magma Ore and Vampire Fang sit in lower rarities while still feeding bigger goals like Godhuman or Sanguine Art. Mirror Fractal is a Mythical chase because it connects to race awakening and Leviathan Shield crafting.

Upgrade materials
Upgrade materials are the stock players save for weapons, guns, fruits, and related upgrade routes. Low rarity does not mean throwaway here, because Common items like Scrap Metal, Leather, and Angel Wings can still be needed often.

Crafting and recipe materials
Crafting materials feed skins, scrolls, chalices, special items, and recipe-style goals. Read the use first, then the source, because the best farm depends on the exact craft you are chasing.

Materials matter because they unlock later actions
A material usually becomes important when an NPC, upgrade recipe, craft, event shop, or progression route asks for it. That is why a simple item from early grinding can still be worth saving. Scrap Metal, Leather, Angel Wings, and Magma Ore do not look flashy, but running out of them can slow down weapon upgrades or a fighting-style route.
Some materials are tied to one bigger unlock instead of many small recipes. Dragon Scale helps with Godhuman and upgrades, Demonic Wisp and Vampire Fang connect to Sanguine Art paths, and Mirror Fractal matters because race awakening and Leviathan Shield crafting can depend on it.
Source tells you how painful the farm can be
Source means the route that creates the material. Broad drops such as Leather and Scrap Metal are easier to restock because they come from many enemies across the game. Named drops like Vampire Fang, Dragon Scale, or Conjured Cocoa ask you to farm a specific enemy group, so they can feel slower even when the rarity label is not Mythical.
Boss, raid, shrine, and sea-event materials need more planning. Dark Fragment comes from Darkbeard, Mirror Fractal comes from Dough King, Leviathan Scale and Leviathan Heart come from Leviathan routes, and Terror Eyes comes from Terrorshark. Those sources are different from killing regular enemies while leveling.
Rarity is a clue, not the decision
Rarity helps with scanning, but it should not be treated like a value ranking. A Common material can be important if many recipes ask for it. An Uncommon material can be annoying if it comes from a narrow farm. A Mythical material can be useless to you until you are working on the route that needs it.
| Material role | What it means in play | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Upgrade stock | Saved for weapon, gun, fruit, or upgrade recipes | Angel Wings, Leather, Scrap Metal, Meteorite |
| Progression gates | Blocks a fighting style, race, item, or special unlock route | Magma Ore, Dragon Scale, Vampire Fang, Mirror Fractal |
| Crafting pieces | Spent on items, skins, scrolls, chalices, or recipe-style goals | Conjured Cocoa, Terror Eyes, Leviathan Scale, Yeti Fur |
| Event or gacha currency | Used in seasonal shops, event exchanges, or roll systems | Candy Egg, Candy, Hearts, Confetti, Oni Token |
| Utility or odd cases | Has a narrow utility use or no listed current use | Wooden Plank, Gunpowder |
Event materials need careful timing
Event and gacha materials should be read differently from normal drops. Candy Egg, Candy, Hearts, Confetti, Summer Token, Oni Token, and Celestial Token are useful because of the event or roll route they belong to. If that route is not active, the material may be more about history, collection, or future rerun context than everyday farming.
Gunpowder is the odd entry to keep quiet. It is listed as a material, but the current material data gives it no active purpose. That does not make it a secret chase item; it means the item should stay visible without pretending it has the same use value as upgrade, craft, or unlock materials.
How to Use This Blox Fruits Materials List
Read a material by use, source, and sea before judging it by rarity. Use tells you why the item is worth saving. Source tells you where the farm starts. Sea tells you whether the route is early, later, multi-sea, or event-tied.
Farm route is the quick practical label. A world drop is easier to restock during normal grinding. A named enemy drop asks for a specific target. Boss, raid, shrine, and sea-event drops usually need more setup. Event and gacha materials should be saved or spent around the route that created them.
FAQ
What are materials used for in Blox Fruits?
Materials are spent on upgrades, crafting, fighting-style routes, race or item progression, event shops, gacha routes, boat repair, and special unlocks. The exact use changes by material.
Which Blox Fruits materials should I save?
Save materials that connect to active goals or common upgrade routes. Scrap Metal, Leather, Magma Ore, Dragon Scale, Vampire Fang, Demonic Wisp, Dark Fragment, and Mirror Fractal are examples worth checking before spending or ignoring.
Does higher rarity always mean a material is more useful?
No. Rarity is only a scarcity clue. A Common material can matter more than a higher-rarity material when many upgrades or unlock routes ask for it.
Why are some materials listed as event currency?
Some materials are used like temporary money or roll tokens for events, shops, or gacha systems. Candy, Hearts, Confetti, Summer Token, Oni Token, and Celestial Token are easier to understand as event resources than as normal crafting drops.
Is Gunpowder useful right now?
Gunpowder is listed as a material, but its current listed purpose is none. Keep it visible for reference, but do not treat it like a normal upgrade or unlock chase unless the game gives it a use later.
Are material drop rates listed here?
No exact drop rates are included for most materials. Use source, sea, purpose, and rarity for planning, but do not assume a specific chance unless the game clearly lists one.
