Quest items are the keys, torches, chalices, and raid chips that push Blox Fruits progression forward. They open puzzle routes, summon bosses, unlock races and fighting styles, and start raids. Their obtainment routes and loss rules matter most when you carry one into a puzzle or fight.

Saber and access puzzles
These items support the Saber chain or open routes to later seas, swords, and fighting styles. Several are carry-and-use items that can disappear on death or leaving, while Saber progress and some opened doors remain after the handoff.
Race and combat unlocks
These items connect rare drops or exchanges to Darkbeard, Cyborg, Ghoul, Sharkman Karate, and Dragon Talon routes. Each route also needs its own mastery, currency, or fight requirements.
Raid and boss summons
God's Chalice can summon rip_indra or become Sweet Chalice with 10 Conjured Cocoa. Sweet Chalice also appears under the names Cake Chalice and Chocolate Chalice, while Hallow Essence starts the Soul Reaper route.
Weapon and awakening keys
Red Key comes from meeting the Dough King damage threshold and opens the Cake Scientist route. That door is the handoff between Dough King progress and Dough raid hosting.

A Dough King fight with at least 10% damage dealt qualifies you for the Red Key, which opens the Cake Scientist route for Dough raid hosting.

Basic, Advanced, and Order identify different raid routes. Advanced covers Phoenix or Dough, while Order is bought from Arlthmetic for the Order raid.
Avoid losing a carry item
Most of these items are used at a door, NPC, altar, button, or puzzle step, and death or leaving can remove them before the handoff. Raid chips disappear when the raid starts, too. Fist of Darkness cannot be stored, and Holy Torch is temporary during the timed puzzle, so plan the run before you pick up the item.
Permanent progress is a separate question. Saber puzzle progress saves between sessions, the Library Key door stays open, Ghoul access remains after the route, and the Cake Scientist route remains after the Red Key opens the door. Those unlocks can outlast the item, but the item may still be gone before you use it.
Common mistakes
- Treat the Water Key as one part of the Sharkman Karate route. You still need 400 Water Kung Fu mastery, 2,500,000 Beli, and 5,000 Fragments.
- Keep the extra cost in mind for race and style routes. Hellfire Torch needs 100 Ectoplasm, while Fire Essence comes from a 50-Bone Death King Random Surprise.
- Aliases do not create extra routes. Sweet Chalice also goes by Cake Chalice or Chocolate Chalice. Special Microchip, Phoenix Raid Microchip, Dough Raid Microchip, and Order Microchip are alternate names for raid chips.
