Quest items are the keys, torches, chalices, and raid chips that push Blox Fruits progression forward. They open puzzle routes, summon bosses, unlock races and fighting styles, and start raids, so the useful comparison is where each item comes from and what happens when you carry it.

Saber and access puzzles
These items support the Saber chain or open routes to later seas, swords, and fighting styles. Several are carry-and-use items that can disappear on death or leaving, while Saber progress and some opened doors remain after the handoff.
Race and combat unlocks
These items connect rare drops or exchanges to Darkbeard, Cyborg, Ghoul, Sharkman Karate, and Dragon Talon routes. Check the extra mastery, currency, or fight requirement before treating the item as the whole unlock.
Raid and boss summons
God's Chalice can summon rip_indra or become Sweet Chalice with 10 Conjured Cocoa. Sweet Chalice also appears under the names Cake Chalice and Chocolate Chalice, while Hallow Essence starts the Soul Reaper route.
Weapon and awakening keys
Red Key comes from meeting the Dough King damage threshold and opens the Cake Scientist route. That door is the handoff between Dough King progress and Dough raid hosting.
Raid chips
Basic, Advanced, and Order describe different raid-hosting routes. Guides may use overlapping names such as Special Microchip, Phoenix Raid Microchip, Dough Raid Microchip, or Order Microchip, so match the alias to the target raid before buying.

Raid chips
Basic, Advanced, and Order describe different raid-hosting routes. Guides may use overlapping names such as Special Microchip, Phoenix Raid Microchip, Dough Raid Microchip, or Order Microchip, so match the alias to the target raid before buying.
| Done | Entry | Image | Category | Target Unlock | Source | Location | Requirements | Cost | Consumed Or Lost | Persistence |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| #17Basic Raid Microchip | ![]() | Raid chip | Standard raids and fruit awakenings | Mysterious Scientist | Hot and Cold or Castle on the Sea | Level 1100 to buy; a Beli purchase has a two-hour cooldown, while a fruit exchange does not. | 100,000 Beli or any physical Blox Fruit | Lost when the raid starts, on death, or on leaving. | - | |

Each card keeps the route details together: category, target unlock, source, location, requirements, cost, loss behavior, and persistence. Sea adds route context, while the table also exposes how to get the item, its purpose, currency, variant, and summary.
Follow the unlock chain, not the item name
Quest items make more sense when you map the handoff. The Saber route moves through the Torch, Cup, and Ancient Relic, while the Key, Library Key, Water Key, and Hidden Key open separate access or combat routes. Holy Torch is the odd one out in this group: it belongs to a timed Tushita puzzle, so start it only when you can finish the five-torch route.
Second Sea items often branch. Fist of Darkness can send you toward Darkbeard or the Cyborg route, while Hellfire Torch, Water Key, and Fire Essence point to Ghoul, Sharkman Karate, and Dragon Talon. Check the listed requirements before farming a drop, since the item is sometimes only one part of the unlock.
Plan the chalice and raid routes
God's Chalice gives you a choice. Use it for rip_indra, or trade it with 10 Conjured Cocoa to make Sweet Chalice. The Sweet Chalice route also needs 500 Cake Land enemies before the Dough King step. A Dough King fight with at least 10% damage dealt qualifies you for the Red Key, which opens the Cake Scientist route for Dough raid hosting.
| Goal | Route to remember | Main gate |
|---|---|---|
| Standard raids | Basic Raid Microchip | Level 1100, then 100,000 Beli or a physical Blox Fruit |
| Phoenix or Dough awakening | Advanced Raid Microchip | Unlock the matching route first |
| Order raid and Cyborg progress | Order Raid Microchip with the Fist of Darkness and Core Brain route | 1,000 Fragments and the Secret Laboratory |
| Soul Reaper summon | Hallow Essence | Carry it to the Haunted Castle altar |
The chip names overlap in guides. Basic, Advanced, and Order are the useful distinctions here. Advanced covers Phoenix or Dough, while Order is bought from Arlthmetic for the Order raid.
Avoid losing a carry item
Most of these items are used at a door, NPC, altar, button, or puzzle step, and death or leaving can remove them before the handoff. Raid chips disappear when the raid starts, too. Fist of Darkness cannot be stored, and Holy Torch is temporary during the timed puzzle, so plan the run before you pick up the item.
Permanent progress is a separate question. Saber puzzle progress saves between sessions, the Library Key door stays open, Ghoul access remains after the route, and the Cake Scientist route remains after the Red Key opens the door. Those unlocks can outlast the item, but the item may still be gone before you use it.
Common mistakes
- Treat the Water Key as one part of the Sharkman Karate route. You still need 400 Water Kung Fu mastery, 2,500,000 Beli, and 5,000 Fragments.
- Keep the extra cost in mind for race and style routes. Hellfire Torch needs 100 Ectoplasm, while Fire Essence comes from a 50-Bone Death King Random Surprise.
- Do not treat aliases as extra routes. Sweet Chalice can appear as Cake Chalice or Chocolate Chalice, and raid-chip guides may use Special Microchip, Phoenix Raid Microchip, Dough Raid Microchip, or Order Microchip.
- For the Tushita puzzle, enter while rip_indra is alive and keep the five-minute limit in mind.
- For Dough, finish the Sweet Chalice requirements before chasing the Red Key. The key comes from the Dough King damage threshold, not from the chalice itself.
FAQ
Do quest items disappear on death in Blox Fruits?
Many can. Check the loss behavior for the exact item: raid chips are lost when the raid starts, on death, or on leaving; Fist of Darkness cannot be stored; and several keys and summon items can be lost before use.
Does Saber puzzle progress save between sessions?
Yes. Saber puzzle progress saves between sessions, although an individual item can still be lost on death or leaving before you use it.
What is the difference between God's Chalice and Sweet Chalice?
God's Chalice can summon rip_indra or be traded with 10 Conjured Cocoa to make Sweet Chalice. Sweet Chalice is used for the Dough King route after the Cake Land enemy requirement is met.
Which item starts the Cyborg route?
Use the Fist of Darkness in the Secret Laboratory computer, then defeat Order for a chance to obtain the Core Brain. Core Brain is the special item required for the Cyborg race unlock.
Which raid chip should I buy?
Buy Basic Raid Microchip for standard raids, Advanced Raid Microchip after unlocking the Phoenix or Dough route, and Order Raid Microchip for the Order raid in the Secret Laboratory.
What must I do before using Holy Torch?
Enter the Tushita puzzle passage while rip_indra is alive, then complete the five-torch route before the five-minute timer expires.
Why do guides call Sweet Chalice Cake Chalice?
Cake Chalice and Chocolate Chalice are aliases for Sweet Chalice. They refer to the same item used for the Dough King summon route.
