Sea events are boat-based encounters and rare hunt routes in Blox Fruits. Some appear as normal sailing fights, some are dangerous Third Sea encounters, and some are special island spawns that lead into systems like Mirage Island, Kitsune Shrine, Leviathan, or Prehistoric Island.
The useful read is the route. A Ship Raid or Sea Beast is something a player can meet while sailing. Frozen Dimension, Haunted Shipwreck, Kitsune Island, Mirage Island, and Prehistoric Island are different because they are searched for on purpose and often need the right danger level, timing, boat setup, or crew plan.

Piranha
Piranhas are capable of leaping out of the water to attack both the player's boat and the player directly. They utilize biting and electric shocks as their primary forms of attack. When a player is hit by a Piranha, their ability to dash, jump, and use abilities is temporarily disabled. Piranhas will automatically despawn if they move too far from their original spawn point. Notably, they prioritize targeting the player over the boat and cannot be damaged using M1 attacks from fighting styles or swords.

Prehistoric Island
To spawn the Prehistoric Island, players need to sail into Sea Danger Level 6 (????) and continue exploring until the island appears. The island can spawn even if the player in the boat does not have the Volcanic Magnet, but having it increases the chances of the island spawning drastically. Thus, it is recommended for at least one player to have a Volcanic Magnet in the sea exploration group if they're hunting for the Prehistoric Island.

Rough Sea
The Rough Sea is a randomly spawned sea event that clears surrounding rocks, dims the area inside the sea, and spawns lightning that can damage players and their boats. The Sharks and Piranhas can spawn in and will target players. The Rough Sea can spawn at any Sea Danger Level arranging from Sea Danger Level 1 (Low) to Sea Danger Level 6 (????), and is able to be spawned without a boat. Additionally, in the Second Sea, the Rough Sea can also spawn.

Ship Raid
The Ship Raid has a chance to happen when the player sails across the sea in a boat. It has two Brigade ships, and a chance to have a Grand Brigade, which will constantly shoot cannonballs at their ship. They will despawn after they successfully destroy the player's boat/ship or if they go far enough away. The player can sink these ships by firing their cannons at them or using AoE moves against them.

Terrorshark
The Terrorshark has a chance to spawn between Sea Danger Levels 2-6. When spawned, it will swim around the player(s) boat and constantly attack the player(s) until the boat/target dies. As the Sea Danger Level increases, the Terrorshark will progressively get stronger and harder to defeat. It is recommended to not go past Danger Level 5 as the Terrorsharks that spawn there are very powerful. Although higher levels do not increase health, they will carry more sharks and do greater damage. It is also almost impossible to escape from the Terrorshark, however fast fruits, such as Light, and boats, such as The Sentinel can sometimes outrun them.

Sea events change by sea
Second Sea has a smaller sea-event pool. Ship Raid, Sea Beast, Shark, Piranha, Rough Sea, and Treasure Island are the main things players need to understand there. These events can still break a trip or feed useful rewards, but they do not use the full Third Sea danger-level route system.
Third Sea adds the larger hunt layer. Basic events can still appear, but danger levels open harder fights and rare island routes. Terrorshark, Rumbling Waters, Haunted Ship Raid, Mirage Island, Haunted Shipwreck, Kitsune Island, Frozen Dimension, and Prehistoric Island all make Third Sea sailing feel less like travel and more like a planned hunt.
Danger Level 6 is a real setup check
Sea Danger Levels are Third Sea sailing zones. Higher danger levels bring more pressure, and Level 6 is where the route changes the most. Visibility gets worse, Sea Beasts can appear quickly, Terrorshark becomes much more dangerous, and several rare routes become relevant.
Level 6 is tied to Haunted Shipwreck, Kitsune Island timing, Prehistoric Island hunting, and Frozen Dimension. It is also where Leviathan access begins through Frozen Dimension and Frozen Watcher. Treat Level 6 as an endgame route instead of a slightly harder version of normal sailing.
Boats, moves, and crew planning matter
A real boat matters because many sea events happen around the ship, and some events end or despawn when the boat is destroyed. Ship fights are easier when one player can steer while others use cannons or wide-area attacks. Many sea enemies resist or ignore simple M1 damage, so special moves, AoE, and sea-event-ready builds are more reliable than basic clicks.
Leviathan and Prehistoric Island deserve extra planning without turning every sea run into a long checklist. Frozen Dimension can lead to Leviathan, but Leviathan Heart needs Beast Hunter handling after the fight. Prehistoric Island can appear without Volcanic Magnet, but having one player bring Volcanic Magnet greatly improves the hunt.
Some entries are nested inside bigger routes
Ghost Ship Raid, Ghost Shark, and Haunted Crew Member belong to Haunted Shipwreck. Kitsune Shrine belongs to Kitsune Island. Leviathan belongs to the Frozen Dimension route. These entries should be read as follow-up encounters, not normal open-water spawns.
That distinction prevents a common mistake: sailing around for a nested encounter without chasing its parent route. If the card says the route is Haunted Shipwreck, Kitsune Island, or Frozen Dimension, start with that parent event first.
Common sea-event misunderstandings
Aura and Instinct do not raise sea-event spawn odds. A boat does not need to be moving for sea events to happen. Danger Level is a Third Sea system, while Second Sea still has sea events without using the same route language. Exact spawn rates are not stable enough to plan around here, so use danger level, access condition, reward route, and crew setup instead.
These are the sea events players can run into during ordinary Second Sea or Third Sea sailing. Ship Raid, Sea Beast, Shark, Piranha, Rough Sea, and Treasure Island are useful for fragments, money, materials, chests, and route practice without the same setup as rare island hunts.
These entries happen inside another sea-event route. Ghost enemies belong to Haunted Shipwreck, Kitsune Shrine belongs to Kitsune Island, and Leviathan belongs to Frozen Dimension, so the parent route matters before the follow-up fight or exchange can happen.
These events are hunted for access as much as rewards. Mirage Island, Kitsune Island, Haunted Shipwreck, Frozen Dimension, and Prehistoric Island each have route rules that affect whether the spawn actually helps with Blue Gear, shrine rewards, Leviathan, shipwreck loot, or prehistoric rewards.
These are harder danger-level fights that players prepare for in the Third Sea. Haunted Ship Raid, Rumbling Waters, and Terrorshark reward better planning because boat health, damage type, crew roles, and escape options can decide whether the hunt stays under control.
FAQ
What are sea events in Blox Fruits?
Sea events are boat-based encounters, enemy fights, rare island spawns, and follow-up routes that happen while sailing in Second Sea or Third Sea.
Which sea events should I hunt in Third Sea?
Third Sea players usually hunt based on the goal. Mirage Island helps with Blue Gear and Advanced Fruit Dealer access, Kitsune Island leads to shrine rewards, Frozen Dimension leads toward Leviathan, Prehistoric Island has its own reward route, and combat events like Terrorshark or Rumbling Waters are more about fighting and sea-event rewards.
Does Danger Level 6 guarantee rare sea events?
No. Danger Level 6 is the route where several rare events can matter, but it does not guarantee a specific spawn. It mainly raises the risk and opens routes such as Haunted Shipwreck, Kitsune Island timing, Frozen Dimension, and Prehistoric Island hunting.
Do I need a crew for every sea event?
No. Basic travel events and smaller enemies can be handled solo by prepared players, but crew planning helps a lot for hard Third Sea fights, Ghost Ship Raid, Leviathan, and Prehistoric Island-style hunts.
How does Leviathan connect to sea events?
Leviathan is tied to the Frozen Dimension route in Danger Level 6. Frozen Dimension is the rare sea event, Frozen Watcher starts the Leviathan path, and Beast Hunter handling matters if the group wants Leviathan Heart.
Is Volcanic Magnet required for Prehistoric Island?
No. Prehistoric Island can appear without Volcanic Magnet, but bringing one greatly improves the hunt. One player in the ship having Volcanic Magnet is enough for the improved odds.
Do Aura or Instinct increase sea-event spawns?
No. Aura and Instinct do not improve sea-event spawn odds. They can still help during combat, but they do not make the event appear more often.
