Raids are the high-difficulty mode in Anime Expeditions once you hit Level 25. Clears pay dual raid currencies, shop materials, and rare Spirit City exclusives that Story Mode does not drop.
Until Level 25, stick to Story and normal play. The first-session path covers how to level without burning scarce mats early.

Reach Level 25, open Raids, and clear Spirit City’s three Acts
Raids unlock at Player Level 25. Story Mode is the main XP path. Expeditions open earlier (around Level 20), but they are a different mode, not a back door into Raids.
To start a raid, open Areas from the left menu, switch to the Gamemode tab, pick Raids, then press E. You can matchmake or go solo. At launch the only raid map is Spirit City; switch maps later if more stages show up.
Spirit City runs as a progressive tower-defense raid with three Acts. Each Act hits harder than Story, stacks enemy stage effects (crowd-control immunity, speed spikes, tankier packs, and similar twists), and ends on its own boss. Fresh Level-25 teams usually start on Act 1 with matchmaking instead of forcing solo Act 3.
| Act | Boss | Headline exclusive | Tokens (Hard) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Glam Reaper | Spirit City equipment chances (Hair Bells, Spirit of the Moonblade, Shinigami Sword) | 10 Raid + 10 Spirit |
| 2 | Silver Serpent | Reaper unit | 15 Raid + 15 Spirit |
| 3 | Berserker | 8th Sword unit | 20 Raid + 20 Spirit |
Hard clears also pay Gems, Gold, Unit EXP, Player EXP, and Bunny Candy, with Act 3 handing the best token haul. Higher difficulty improves exclusive drop odds.
Reaper can drop from Act 2. 8th Sword (the Secret Kenpachi-inspired unit) can drop from Act 3. Treat both as rare. Expect roughly ~1% on Act 3 for 8th Sword, with a one-time pity near 35 clears. Do not build your whole mid-game plan around landing it in a handful of runs. Unit cards live on the units wiki. When a keeper drops, evolve it before you dump every Trait Crystal into a temporary board.
Acts 1 through 3 can also roll Spirit City equipment such as Hair Bells, Spirit of the Moonblade, and Shinigami Sword. Full piece names sit under equipment.
Spend Raid Tokens and Spirit Tokens on the right shop stuff
Raids pay two currencies. Raid Tokens buy from the general Raid Shop (shared across raids). Spirit Tokens buy from the Spirit City Raid Shop (map-specific).
Both shops use limited stock that does not reset. Once a line is bought out, it stays gone. Spend like the shelf will not restock.
The general Raid Shop sells Grey Sprites, Trait Crystals, Stat Rerolls, Stat Locks, Equipment Rerolls, and Equipment Locks in small piles. The Spirit City shop sells a similar reroll family, plus the Spirit City Totem and an expensive Soul Reaper (Cyborg) skin. Token and totem names live with other items.
Spirit City Totems cost 75 Spirit Tokens each and grant +10% damage in Spirit City. They stack (up to 10 totems for a large permanent damage boost while farming this map). If you plan to stay in Spirit City, Totems beat cosmetics and throwaway rerolls.
Trait Crystals, Stat Rerolls/Locks, and Equipment Rerolls/Locks belong on keepers only. Early fillers do not deserve shop stock. How to reroll stats covers potential rolls; trait targets live on the traits wiki. If shop stock is empty and you still need rerolls, freebies on the codes page can help fill gaps.
When you are new to Raids, spend in this order:
- Clear Act 1 for tokens, XP, and a feel for stage effects.
- Buy Spirit City Totems early if you will keep farming this map.
- Spend scarce crystals and rerolls only on long-term units.
- Push Act 2 and Act 3 when your roster and evolutions can handle the jump.
- Chase Reaper and 8th Sword as rare bonuses, not as a required first drop.
Raids feed mid-game power through shops and exclusives. Keep Story XP, smart evolution, and careful trait spending while you climb Acts.
