Roblox launches, the window opens, and then it just sits there white or gray. In some reports, game audio plays and invisible menus still respond behind the blank window.
Those extra signs point to a local display or graphics problem because the Roblox process is still running. A blank window by itself does not prove one exact cause, so work through the checks below in order.

Try Optimizations for windowed games first
Players have reported that this Windows 11 setting clears the Roblox white screen, but it is a community-supported diagnostic rather than a proven universal fix. Microsoft explains that the setting changes how supported DirectX 10 and 11 windowed games present frames. Roblox has not publicly confirmed that presentation mode as the cause of this symptom.
The toggle only exists on Windows 11. On Windows 10, skip straight to the next section.
1. Turn on the windowed games toggle
- Press Windows key + I to open Settings.
- Go to System > Display > Graphics.
- Under Default settings, open Change default graphics settings.
- Turn on Optimizations for windowed games.
- Fully close Roblox (fix 2 shows how) and relaunch it.
If the window stays white, turn the setting back off if you prefer and continue with the checks below.

2. End every Roblox process
One player report connected several leftover Roblox processes with a long white hang and steady CPU use. Ending them gives the next launch a clean start, even though it does not identify the original cause.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- Find every Roblox entry, including RobloxPlayerBeta, the launcher, and the crash handler.
- Select each one and click End task.
- Relaunch Roblox from the desktop or Start menu.
3. Test the dedicated GPU
On a laptop with integrated and dedicated graphics, use Windows' per-app preference to test Roblox on the high-performance GPU. This is a safer diagnostic than disabling either graphics adapter in Device Manager. Skip it on a desktop with one graphics card.
- Go to Settings > System > Display > Graphics. On Windows 10 the page may be named Graphics settings.
- Click Add desktop app, then Browse.
- Paste %localappdata%\Roblox\Versions into the address bar and press Enter.
- Sort the folders by Date modified, open the first folder, and select RobloxPlayerBeta.exe.
- Click Options on the new entry, pick High performance, and save.
If the problem continues, you can return to the same menu and let Windows choose the GPU again.
4. Update your graphics drivers
A damaged or old display driver can interfere with game rendering. Get drivers only from the graphics maker.
- Update through your card's official tool: the NVIDIA app, AMD Software, or Intel's driver assistant.
- On a dual-GPU laptop, update both the integrated and the dedicated drivers.
- Restart your PC after installing.
5. Run Disk Cleanup
A few players have reported that clearing temporary files helped. Treat it as a low-risk cleanup step, not a guaranteed white-screen fix.
- Press the Windows key, type "Disk Cleanup", and open it.
- Pick the drive Roblox is installed on (usually C:).
- Tick the temporary file options and click OK.
- Relaunch Roblox.

6. Clean reinstall Roblox
A fresh install replaces damaged client files. Reinstalling does not delete your Roblox account, Robux, or server-saved game progress.
- Uninstall Roblox from Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Restart your PC.
- Install a fresh copy from roblox.com/download.
7. Install the Microsoft Store version
Several players have reported that the Microsoft Store build rendered normally when the regular download stayed white. The packages install differently, but Roblox has not published a reason that explains the different behavior.
- Open the Microsoft Store and search for Roblox.
- Install it and sign in to your account.
Some players report weaker performance in the Store build. Use it as a fallback test, then choose the package that works better on your PC.
Sometimes Roblox must fix the client
Some player reports say the white screen disappeared after a later Roblox client update. The symptom has also appeared on powerful gaming PCs, so it does not automatically mean your hardware is too weak. If every local check fails, retry after Roblox ships another client update.
