You unlock the Baby Nessie companion in Fisch by finishing three quests from the Headless Horseman on Caustic Hallow, done in order. The last quest asks you to show the Headless Horseman three different Nessie fish.

How to Reach the Headless Horseman on Caustic Hallow
The route starts with the Flying Dutchman, who waits near the Moosewood docks. Speak to the Flying Dutchman there to sail to Caustic Hallow. Once you land, follow these steps to reach the Headless Horseman:
- From the Pumpkin King, turn right.
- Keep going straight across the river to reach the Ritual site.
- Head to the cliff behind the Ritual site. The Chapel gate and the Headless Horseman are both there.
The Headless Horseman waits outside the Chapel for an angler to go in and help. Talking to the Headless Horseman there starts the questline.
Finish The Rescue Run by Carrying Baby Nessie Outside
The first quest, Headless Horseman: The Rescue Run, takes you into the Chapel to find Baby Nessie. Once you reach Baby Nessie, carry it back outside to complete the quest.
Catch Five Mutated Fish in a Row During the Chapel Flicker
The second quest, Headless Horseman: Stabilizing The Chapel, asks you to catch five FischFright mutated fish in a row while the Chapel flickers. The five catches need to come one right after another, so keep the run unbroken from your first catch to your fifth.
Where to Get the Plush, Zombie, and Ghoul Nessie
The final quest needs one each of three Nessie variants, and each comes from a different route.
- Plush Nessie: Fish a Frightful Pool during Autumn with Sour Jelly Candy as bait. Pools appear around the map and are announced in server chat. You can also trick-or-treat at the houses in Caustic Hallow and choose the treat option.
- Zombie Nessie: Fish the Haunted Cemetery pool on an Autumn night during Jack-o-Moon weather, using Black Licorice as bait. That pool opens only after you complete the Haunted Cemetery Ritual, which you can start only once you've cleared an earlier chain of rituals, one at a time and in order. The ritual sends you to the Haunted Cemetery, where the pool appears once your group deposits 15 Haunted Bones in the Haunted Cauldron.
- Ghoul Nessie: Fish the Haunted Cemetery pool on an Autumn night during Jack-o-Moon weather, using Sour Jelly Candy as bait. The pool becomes available once the Ghoul Nessie Ritual is active, and that ritual needs an Omniscient Ritual cleared first, so it sits further down the same chain as the Zombie route. The Spooky Cemetery admin event is the other option: it runs only occasionally, and while it's running, you can fish for Ghoul Nessie anywhere without doing the ritual.
Plush Nessie also has a fixed route through Hex Energy, the running total you build by offering ingredients at Beatrix's cauldron on Caustic Hallow. Reach 470 Hex Energy with 80% of the Bestiary completed, and you're guaranteed a Plush Nessie, since the reward is fixed rather than a random roll. Don't mix this up with the Hex Stage the Haunted Cemetery Ritual asks for, because the two are separate.
Show All Three Nessie Fish to Unlock the Baby Nessie Companion
The last quest, Headless Horseman: Nessie Expertise, asks you to show the Headless Horseman one Plush Nessie, one Zombie Nessie, and one Ghoul Nessie. Once all three have been shown, the quest is complete and the Baby Nessie companion is unlocked.
