Four features in Steel Fighters can make your robots stronger: the Perfect trait, the Star Machine in Space, Index tier rewards, and Overworld Upgrades. Build a Robot From Six Matching Parts for the Perfect Trait
A robot gets +10% stats when all six of its parts come from the same Robot. One part from a different Robot is enough to lose the bonus, so every part has to match.
The bonus also applies to robots you already own, so an older build can qualify too.
Mixing parts is still the core of Steel Fighters, and the matching set doesn't replace it. A flat 10% won't always beat a build with stronger individual parts, so compare the two before you commit to matching every part.
Spend Stars at the Star Machine in Space
The Star Machine is in Space, and it's where you spend Stars to get a stats boost for your Robots. That boost is separate from the Perfect trait, so the two are different ways to strengthen a robot.
Complete an Index Tier for Rewards and a Permanent Boost
The Index is in the Overworld, and finishing a full tier there earns that tier's rewards and a permanent boost. You keep both once you've finished the tier.
Buy Buffs With Overworld Upgrades
Overworld Upgrades are purchases that give you buffs, so the choice comes down to which buff you want and whether you can afford it. Check what each upgrade gives before you buy, so you know exactly what you're paying for.
Collect Scrap in the Junkyard and From Titan Bosses
Scrap is one of the currencies in Steel Fighters, along with Cash and Stars. You collect it in the Junkyard, which the game describes as a dangerous place to gather.
The Junkyard Titan is a boss in the Overworld. Damage it with your Robots to earn Cash, Scrap, and other rewards. The Space Titan works in the same format in Space.
Space also has its own Junkyard, and it gives x2.5 Scrap. If Scrap is what you need, that's the better place to gather it.
