Error code 103 blocks you from joining a Roblox game, almost always on Xbox. The message usually reads "The Roblox game you're trying to join is currently not available (Error Code: 103)", sometimes with "Unable to Join" in front or "not available for your account" at the end.
It sounds like a connection problem. It is not one, and it is not a ban either. 103 is commonly caused by account restrictions: the account is set as under 13, the Xbox family settings block community-created content, or the game is not published for consoles at all.
One detail explains most cases. Every Roblox game is community-created content, so a child account blocked from seeing community content cannot join most games. Roblox has retired 103 from its official error code list, but the fix still runs through these account and family settings.

How to fix error code 103 on Xbox
1. Update the Xbox family and privacy settings
This is the fix path from Roblox's own family accounts guide, and it needs the parent or family manager account.
- Sign in on the Xbox with the parent account.
- Open Settings > Account > Family and pick the child's account. On newer consoles the path is Settings > General > Online Safety & Family.
- Select Privacy & online safety, then Xbox Live privacy (newer menus call it Xbox Privacy).
- Choose View details & customize.
- Under Communication & multiplayer, set "You can join multiplayer experiences" to Allow.
- Set "You can see and share content" to Everybody. Newer menus word this as seeing content other people make, or community creations.
- Back out of settings, restart the console, and sign back in on the child's account before retesting the game.
One extra note from the same guide: if the child's "Access to content" level sits below "Appropriate up to age 10", a parent permission pop-up appears when the Roblox app opens.
2. Correct the birthday on the Roblox account
A wrong birthday makes Roblox treat the player as younger than they are. Fix the date instead of starting a new account.
- In Roblox, open Settings > Account Info.
- Select the pencil icon next to the birthday and enter the real date.
- Follow the prompts. Depending on the change, Roblox's age change process may ask for government ID verification or parental consent.
Parents with a linked account can also edit the child's birthday under Settings > Parental Controls > select the child > pencil icon next to the avatar. That edit works only once, and not after the age has been ID-verified.
3. Raise the content maturity level or allow the game
Roblox's own Parental Controls decide which maturity levels a child can join, separately from the Xbox settings.
- On the parent account, open Settings > Parental Controls and select the child.
- Under Settings you manage, open Content restrictions.
- Move the Content maturity slider to a level that covers the game.
- Open Allowed games in the same menu to approve individual game requests.
Roblox Kids and Roblox Select accounts limit the default game list by age, part of the account split covered in the Kids and Select rollout. Restricted-label games are the one hard stop: they need an ID-checked 18+ account, and no slider unlocks them for a child.
4. Check the game is actually on Xbox
Some games are simply not published for consoles. Open the game's page on the Roblox website or mobile app and look at the supported devices listed there.
If console is missing, no setting fixes 103. Play that one on PC or mobile instead.
5. Power cycle the Xbox and reinstall Roblox
If every setting checks out, clear out a corrupted install.
- Hold the console's power button for about 10 seconds until it fully shuts down.
- Unplug the power cable for a minute, plug it back in, and restart.
- If 103 remains, go to My games & apps, highlight Roblox, uninstall it, then reinstall it from the Store.
If Roblox still shows error 103
A few sites recycle 103 as a PC error. Real reports are almost all Xbox, and when it does appear on PC it carries the same meaning, so run through the same Roblox account checks above.
