How emotes work
Equip up to four emotes and fire them with keys 1 through 4 on keyboard, or the emote button on mobile. They come in two shapes: animations that move your whole character, and toys your character holds and plays with. Neither does anything competitive; an emote will not save you from a knife, though dabbing at the Murderer has ended badly for many.
Getting the shop emotes
The shop lineup is the buy-anytime set. Coins are the grind currency you collect in rounds, and Diamonds are the premium one, so a Coins-priced emote like Sit or Dab is a matter of playtime while Diamond-priced picks like Zen and Floss take saving or spending. Prices sit on each card, so you can plan which one your Coin stash covers next.
Event emotes and why some can no longer be bought
Most of the roster came from seasonal events: Halloween, Christmas, Easter, Summer, and the occasional Thanksgiving or Valentine's drop. Each event sold or awarded its emotes through event currency, battle pass tiers, or event boxes, and when the event ended, that route closed. Players who earned them keep them forever, and since emotes are not tradable, there is no back door: an event emote you missed stays missed unless the game reruns it.
Choosing what to equip
- Animations read from a distance and work anywhere, so they are the safer slot picks.
- Toys are the flex: a year-stamped event toy quietly tells the lobby how long you have been around.
- Rotate by season if you have the collection for it. A Gravestone in October lands better than a Beach Ball.

How do you use emotes in Murder Mystery 2?
Equip them in the Emotes menu, then press keys 1 to 4 on keyboard or tap the emote button on mobile during a match or in the lobby. Animations play on your character, and toys appear in your hands.
Can you still get event emotes from past events?
No. Event emotes were earned through their event's currency, battle pass, or boxes, and that route closed when the event ended. Players who earned them keep them permanently, and there is no way to buy one afterward.
Are Murder Mystery 2 emotes tradable?
No. Emotes sit outside the MM2 trading economy, so they cannot be traded, gifted, or sold between players. The only ways to get one are the shop or the event that offers it.
What is the difference between an animation and a toy emote?
Animations like Zen or Floss move your whole character. Toys like the Teddy Bear or Prank Bomb are items your character holds and plays with. Both equip and trigger the same way.
Should I spend Coins or Diamonds on shop emotes?
Coins-priced emotes are the easy wins since Coins pile up from normal rounds. Diamond-priced ones cost premium currency that is much slower to earn, so grab the Coin emotes you like first and save Diamonds for the animations you really want.
