- Return to the 2014 checkpoint or town in The Hunt hub and interact with the displayed reward.
You do not need to win an MM2 round, survive to the end, or use a particular role. You also do not need a paid pass, and the 50 coins can be collected across multiple rounds rather than in one run.
How to Start the Murder Mystery 2 2014 Challenge
Enter the 2014 hub after clearing the earlier eras, then look for Nikilis near the town and race track. Talk to him to start the hub challenge.
Follow these steps:
- Run over the yellow or golden speed strips placed along the course. They boost your movement speed and mark the intended route.
- Follow the track through the town, snowy sections, and raised sections until you reach the white archway or top of the course.
- Continue around the route until it loops back toward the starting area.
- Speak to Nikilis again when you return. This second interaction confirms the lap and moves you on to the Murder Mystery 2 quest.
Reaching the high point is part of the route, not the final handoff. If you stop at the archway and leave without returning to Nikilis, the 2014 hub portion may not register as complete.
How to Collect 50 Coins in Murder Mystery 2
After the race registers, enter Murder Mystery 2 and join a normal round. The event coins are gold pickups placed around the active map, so walk into them to collect them. You do not need a special weapon, recipe, map, or role.
Your progress is cumulative:
- Move through the map during the round and collect every coin pickup you can reach.
- If the round ends or you are eliminated, keep the coins you already collected for the event total.
- Join another normal round and repeat until the counter reaches 50.

Assume a 40-coin bag limit per round in normal play, so you'll usually need at least two rounds to reach 50. The Elite gamepass can raise the bag capacity, but it is optional and not needed for this challenge.

When the Murder Mystery 2 counter reaches 50, the event completion and badge registration should happen automatically. Give it a moment to register before leaving if the completion does not appear immediately.
Then return to The Hunt hub and go back to the 2014 checkpoint or town. Interact with the displayed reward to claim Knife-Dodger's Bighead, the 2014 avatar accessory. It is a UGC item, not an MM2 weapon.
After the reward is claimed, use the white cube interaction on the right side of the hub if you want to continue to the 2015 era.
Murder Mystery 2 2014 Challenge Troubleshooting
- The 2014 area is still locked: Check the earlier eras in order, especially the unfinished 2013 Apocalypse Rising 2 quest. The event does not skip ahead to 2014.
- The race seems complete, but the MM2 quest has not opened: Make sure you reached the white archway or top, followed the route back to the start, and spoke to Nikilis a second time.
- You have 50 coins, but the reward is locked: Wait briefly for the event completion or badge registration to appear, then return to the 2014 checkpoint or town and interact with the displayed reward.
