Boxes are how most Murder Mystery 2 weapons enter the world. Feed one 1,000 Coins, 100 Diamonds, or a Mystery Key and it hands back a random knife or gun from its pool, with the Chroma version of the box godly as the jackpot. The shop lineup is stable and always there, while event boxes come and go with their seasons, which is why the event half reads like a timeline of Halloweens and Christmases.

How unboxing works
Every current shop box takes the same three payments: 1,000 Coins, 100 Diamonds, or 1 Mystery Key. The stated odds are identical across them too, with Commons at 70 percent and the Legendary tier at 5. What actually changes between boxes is the pool: which knives or guns can drop, and which godly sits at the top. Pick the box whose top reward you want, because that is the only lever you control.
Chroma versions of box godlies are the chase pulls. Their exact drop chance inside the Legendary tier is not published, so treat any Chroma as a long shot rather than a plan.
Coins, Diamonds, or Keys?
Coins come free from playing, so Coin unboxing is the default. Diamonds are premium currency and worth more per unit than 10 Coins each, so spending 100 Diamonds on a 1,000 Coin box is usually bad math unless you are out of Coins and impatient. Mystery Keys mostly arrive through gifts and rewards; they are box-agnostic, so save them for the box with your preferred godly.
The discontinued crates
Before the Season 1 rework, the shop sold rarity-named crates: Common through Legendary, plus the MLG, Chroma, and Pet boxes. They left when the shop changed, and their contents either migrated into newer systems or became unobtainable. They matter today mainly as the origin story of the classic godlies and many of the game's oldest tradables.
Event boxes
Each Halloween, Christmas, Summer, and Valentine's event ships its own box, purchasable with that event's currency while it runs. When the event ends, the box retires, and its weapons only circulate through trading afterward. That retirement cycle is exactly what makes older event items valuable, so if an active event box holds something you want, unbox during the event rather than paying trade markup later.

What does a box cost in Murder Mystery 2?
Every current shop box costs 1,000 Coins, 100 Diamonds, or 1 Mystery Key, whichever you choose to spend. Event boxes instead cost the event currency of their season while the event runs.
What are the odds of getting a godly from a box?
The shop boxes state Common 70%, Uncommon 15%, Rare 10%, and Legendary 5%. The Chroma versions of box godlies sit inside that Legendary tier at an unpublished lower chance.
Should I spend Coins or Diamonds on boxes?
Coins. Both open the same box with the same odds, and Coins arrive free from playing while Diamonds are the premium currency. Spend Diamonds only when you are out of Coins and do not want to wait.
Which box has the best top reward?
Every shop box tops out at a different godly, like Deathshard in Knife Box 1 or Lightbringer and Darkbringer in Mystery Box 2, each with a Chroma variant above it. Check the card for the box whose jackpot you actually want before spending.
Can you still open old event boxes?
No. Event boxes retire when their event ends, and their weapons then move between players only through trading. That scarcity is why older event knives and guns carry high trade values.
