How to Fix Roblox Error Code 0

Updated on July 22, 2026 (about 5 hours ago)

"An error was encountered during authentication. Please try again. (Error Code: 0)" is Roblox telling you it could not verify your account when you tried to join. The join request gets refused before the game even starts loading.

First things first: this is not a ban. Your account is fine. Something between your device and Roblox's login servers failed the check, and that something is usually a VPN or stale session data.

One honest note: Roblox does not list code 0 in its official error documentation. The fixes below come from what consistently works for players, ordered by how often they actually solve it.

#FixWhat it does
1Turn off your VPN or proxyRemoves the most common trigger
2Log out and back inRefreshes your session

How to Fix Roblox Error Code 0

Turn off your VPN and refresh your session first

These two fixes clear most cases of Error Code 0. Start here before touching anything else.

1. Turn off your VPN or proxy

Roblox's login checks do not like VPN and proxy routes, and this is the most commonly reported trigger for code 0.

  1. Disconnect your VPN completely: quit the VPN app itself rather than switching servers.
  2. If you use a proxy, turn it off in your system's network settings.
  3. Close Roblox fully and try joining again.

If it works now, you have your answer. Play with the VPN off, or try a different VPN server if you have to keep it on.

2. Log out of Roblox and back in

A stale session is the other big cause. A full log-out forces Roblox to hand you fresh session data.

  1. Log out of your account in the Roblox app or on roblox.com.
  2. Close Roblox completely, browser tabs included.
  3. Open Roblox again and sign in.
  4. Join a game to test it.

3. Restart your device and router

An unstable connection can fail the authentication check all on its own.

  1. Restart your device.
  2. Unplug your router for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in.
  3. Still stuck? Connect through a different network. A mobile hotspot is a quick test: if Roblox works there, the problem lives in your main network's route to Roblox.

Clear Roblox's local data if the error keeps coming back

Corrupted local files can keep failing the check even on a clean connection. Work through these in order.

4. Clear the Roblox cache

Clearing the cache is safe. Roblox rebuilds it on the next launch, and your account and game progress are untouched.

PlatformWhat to do
WindowsPress Win + R, type %localappdata%\Roblox, press Enter, then delete the files inside
MacIn Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder, enter ~/Library/Caches/Roblox, then delete the contents
AndroidOpen Settings > Apps > Roblox > Storage and tap Clear Cache
iOSThere is no cache button, so delete the app and reinstall it

5. Clear roblox.com cookies in your browser

If you launch games from the website, old cookies can carry broken login data into every join attempt.

  1. Open your browser's settings and find site data or cookies.
  2. Search for roblox.com and remove its cookies.
  3. Sign back in on roblox.com and try again.

6. Let Roblox through your firewall and antivirus

Overprotective security tools sometimes block the connection Roblox needs to verify you.

  1. Open your firewall or antivirus settings.
  2. Add Roblox to the allowed or excluded apps list.
  3. Restart Roblox and test a join.

7. Reinstall Roblox

A reinstall replaces every local file, including the login data the app stores on your device.

  1. Uninstall Roblox.
  2. Restart your device.
  3. Grab a fresh copy from roblox.com/download and sign in again.

Sometimes it is Roblox, not you

8. Check if Roblox is down

Code 0 comes in waves. When Roblox's login service has a bad moment, everyone gets the same message at once, and nothing on your end will fix it.

Check status.roblox.com. If it shows problems, close Roblox and try again later. Waiting really is the fix here.

If the status page looks clean and the error has survived all eight fixes for more than a day, contact Roblox support. Pick Technical Support, then Cannot Visit Experience, and describe what you already tried.

Other codes have their own quirks, and the full list of Roblox errors and fixes explains what each one means. And if your problem is the app dying rather than refusing to sign you in, start with the fixes for Roblox closing on PC or the popup that says Roblox needs to quit.

FAQ

Q.

Is Roblox Error Code 0 a ban?

No. Code 0 just means the sign-in check failed for that session, not that your account is in trouble. It usually clears after turning off a VPN or logging out and back in.

Q.

Why does my VPN cause Error Code 0?

Roblox's login checks flag traffic that comes through VPN and proxy routes, so the join request fails before the game loads. Turn the VPN off, or switch to a different server or network if you need to keep it.

Q.

I tried every fix and still get Error Code 0. What now?

Check status.roblox.com first. If Roblox's login service is having problems, waiting is the only fix. If the status page is clean and the error sticks around for days, contact Roblox support under Technical Support, then Cannot Visit Experience.
