How to Get the Scavenger Rod in Fisch

Updated on August 25, 2026 (about 2 hours ago)

The Scavenger Rod comes from Dr. Crookspine's Errands in Fisch. The reported hand-in list is 2 Silver Rusty Bolts, 5 Scrap Metal, and 1 Lunar String. Since the quest has just been added, check the objectives Dr. Crookspine shows you before you start farming. If your list differs, follow the in-game objectives.

The Scavenger Rod is not the same thing as the Scavenger enchant. That enchant is a separate system, explained in the all Fisch enchantments guide.

Start Dr. Crookspine’s Errands.

Dr. Crookspine seated at his laboratory desk inside the Fisch Laboratory

Go to Dr. Crookspine's Laboratory near Roslit Bay and Sunstone Island. Dr. Crookspine is at the top of the oil rig, so check above the main platform if you cannot spot him right away.

Speak with him to start Dr. Crookspine's Errands. Keep the item names in view as you collect them. A normal Rusty Bolt or normal String is not automatically the named quest variant.

Collect the three materials from their fishing spots

The three spots below are the safe base-item route. They do not promise a particular mutation, drop rate, or catch setup. The rod and bait combinations are optional suggestions, not hard quest requirements.

Fish 2 Silver Rusty Bolts in the Mineshaft.

Fish for Rusty Bolt in the Mineshaft, then watch for the Silver Rusty Bolt named by the objective. Do not count a normal Rusty Bolt unless the quest marks it as complete.

One suggested setup uses the Titanium Rod, Garbage Bait, and Mutated Sharky. These are recommendations for the hunt, not required gear stated by the quest.

Catch 5 Scrap Metal in The Depths.

Fish in The Depths during the day for the five Scrap Metal. Some Fisch item listings treat Scrap Metal as regionless, so The Depths is the safest first stop for this objective. If it does not appear, recheck the time and the objective before changing your equipment.

An optional setup uses any rod with Garbage Bait. If Dr. Crookspine's objective points you somewhere else, follow the objective shown in your server.

Get 1 Lunar String from Desolate Deep.

Catch String in Desolate Deep, aiming for the Lunar String named by the quest. A normal String or another named variant should not be treated as complete unless the objective accepts it.

The suggested setup for this hunt is a Moonlit Rod with Mutated Sharky. Again, that setup is optional.

Return the materials and claim the Scavenger Rod

When all three objectives are complete, return to Dr. Crookspine at the Laboratory. Speak with him and turn in Dr. Crookspine's Errands to receive the Scavenger Rod.

If one objective is still incomplete, double-check the exact item name in your inventory. The Silver and Lunar names matter, so a base item may leave the errand unfinished.

Once you have the reward, the Fisch The Depths rod guide can help with other rod routes in the same areas. For another unlock path, try the Scalding Hook Rod guide.
