Scalding Hook is a Stage 7 fishing rod from Fisch's The Deep update (Version 1.96). You unlock it from Vesper of the Deep in the Lower Deep.
The path is two quests with a craft in the middle. Finish Thermal Adaptations, build the Titanic Scalder harpoon gun, then clear Scalded Abyss. If you still need zone access, use how to enter The Deep in Fisch. For Luminous, Titanium, and Cusk Purger, see how to get every The Deep rod in Fisch.

What you get

Turning in Scalded Abyss hands you Scalding Hook, 90,000 C$, and 6,500 XP. The rod also banks 6,000 Rod Journal XP toward The Deep.
Base kit is high luck with a 400,000 kg weight cap: strong for progress-heavy fights, still short of true infinite-weight sticks.
Find Vesper and finish both quests
- Reach the Lower Deep. Open The Deep and drop into the lower zone first.
- Find Vesper of the Deep. Look mid-zone near the thermal vents. GPS: 1610, -2830, -11765. Talk to Vesper and start the chain.
- Complete Thermal Adaptations. Catch 15 fish in the Lower Deep. Any fish counts. Turn in for Thermal Harpoon, 35,000 C$, and 2,800 XP.
- Keep the Thermal Harpoon. It is a craft material, not a harpoon gun you fire. Do not sell or trash it.
- Craft Titanic Scalder at the Ancient Archives before you start Quest 2.
- Complete Scalded Abyss. Catch 15 Mythical, Exotic, or Secret fish with Titanic Scalder, and obtain 8 Abyssal Bio-Fluids (confirm the second objective on your quest UI). Return to Vesper for the rod, cash, and XP.
Craft Titanic Scalder
Quest 2 needs the Titanic Scalder harpoon gun. Craft it at the Harpoon Gun Crafting anvil in the Ancient Archives, not the fishing-rod anvil used for rods like the Titanium Rod. You need Level 200. The craft costs 0 C$.
| Material | Amount | How you get it |
|---|---|---|
| Thermal Harpoon | 1 | Vesper quest Thermal Adaptations |
| Heat-Proof Metal | 1 | Hunter Dan quest Big Gamer Harpooner |
| Salvage Scrap | 25 | Deep salvage and scrap farming |
Hunter Dan sits in the Outer Deep (camp and seaweed area), GPS -570, -2080, -12010. For Big Gamer Harpooner, harpoon 3 sharks in The Deep and land 5 Perfect Catches in a row. That quest rewards Heat-Proof Metal, 20,000 C$, and 4,000 XP.
Bag the materials, hit Level 200, and craft Titanic Scalder at the Archives harpoon anvil. Then head back to Vesper for Scalded Abyss.
Scalding Hook stats and what it does
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Lure Speed | 82% |
| Luck | 180% |
| Control | 0.12 |
| Resilience | 30% |
| Max Kg | 400,000 kg |
| Durability | 200 |
| Line Distance | 100 m |
| Stage | 7 |
You also get +20% Progress Speed. While reeling, Forced Progress Speed climbs +6% per second up to +35%, then drops -6% per second when you stop. At full +35% Forced Progress Speed, you hit about a 59.5% chance for Scalded (9× value).
After a catch, the rod can grant a free Scalded fish from the current pool about 15 to 30 seconds later. Durability 200 covers lava, noxious fluid, and brine pools.
Lean on it when Forced Progress Speed has time to climb mid-fight. For calm everyday infinite-weight grinding, craft rods like Titanium are the easier daily pick. Enchant options live in all Fisch enchantments. Best-enchant notes for Scalding Hook are still empty, so pick by feel for now.
