Finish Matthew's first Northern Expedition quest to get Stardust Candy, then offer it to Comet beside a fallen star. Comet is a random world encounter, not a shop purchase, so you may need to check several Starfall spots. To equip Comet later, unlock the Companion Satchel at Level 30 and open it with C.

Get Matthew's Stardust Candy quest
Travel to the snowy camp in Northern Expedition. Look for Matthew near the elevated platform by the Avalanche Rod and Pickaxe area. Talk to him and accept his first SPACE CANDY objective.
Bring the three items Matthew asks for
Collect one of each item:

The last row gives you a choice, so you do not need both mutations. An ordinary Frozen Walnut does not match either listed mutation. If you already own a Moonstone, use it instead of making another farming trip.
Bring a Solarblaze or Nova Frozen Walnut
Once the three items are ready, return to Matthew and hand them in. He gives you Stardust Candy. Keep it in your inventory for the next step. Matthew's separate Meteoric Rod route in Fisch leads to a different reward.
Find Comet and feed it Stardust Candy
Use these actions to finish the tame:
- Travel to an active Fallen Star during Starfall.
- If Comet is not there, check another active starfall spot. The Fisch Broken Star locations help you plan the rotation.
- When Comet appears, walk close with Stardust Candy in your inventory and press
EonOffer Stardust Candy. - Wait for the
Companion Unlocked: Comet!popup. That confirmation means the tame worked.
Comet does not appear at every fallen star. An empty crater is not a failed quest, just a very unhelpful crater.
Equip Comet and use its Astral Luck
Open the Companion Satchel with C after it unlocks at Level 30. Select Comet and equip it. Only one companion can be equipped at a time.
Comet's benefit is Astral Luck. It raises the server chance of rare meteor and Starfall drops, which helps when you are hunting astral materials. The Fisch companions index covers the wider companion system.
