Redcap is a Legendary pet from the Fairy Event, and getting it takes two separate rolls. First you earn a Fairy Chest at the Wishing Well. Then that chest has a 14.5% chance to give you Redcap. Plan on opening several chests, not one.
How to Get a Fairy Chest in Grow a Garden
Fairy Favors is the activity that earns chests. You submit Glimmering fruit to the Wishing Well's meter, and each time the meter fills, the well grants you a wish. The Fairy Event is listed for October 10 to 17, 2026. If the in-game timer shows different dates, go with the timer.
Filling the Wishing Well Meter
The Wishing Well sits in the Fairy Event area. Its meter reads Fountain Power in the game, and the well shows the crops it wants right now.

- Grow a plant from the Seed Shop and harvest its Glimmering fruit. Fairies apply the Glimmering mutation during event visits and Fairy Storms, so plan your planting around those visits.
- Walk to the Wishing Well and check the crop it's requesting.
- Submit the requested crop. Any other Glimmering crop also fills the meter, and rarer ones give more Fairy Points, but a matching request fills it faster.
- When the meter is full, the well grants a wish and shows three rewards. Pick the Fairy Chest if it's one of them.
Wishing Well Tiers and Chest Odds
The well has five tiers. Tier 1 has no Fairy Chest option, but the chest shows up from Tier 2 on. Each tier also widens the crop list, so the requests get more varied as you climb.

| Tier | Fairy Chest chance | Crops the well may request |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Not available | Strawberry, Blueberry, Orange Tulip, Tomato, Corn, Daffodil |
| 2 | 7.69% | Tomato, Corn, Daffodil, Watermelon, Pumpkin, Apple, Bamboo, Orange Tulip |
| 3 | 17.24% | Watermelon, Pumpkin, Apple, Bamboo, Coconut, Cactus, Dragon Fruit, Mango, Pepper |
| 4 | 22.73% | Coconut, Cactus, Dragon Fruit, Mango, Grape, Sunbulb, Glowthorn, Mushroom, Pepper, Cacao |
| 5 | 27.03% | Lightshoot, Glowthorn, Grape, Mushroom, Pepper, Cacao, Beanstalk, Ember Lily, Sugar Apple, Burning Bud, Giant Pinecone, Elder Strawberry, Romanesco |
Use the table to plan which crops to grow, not as a shopping list. Requests change, and Buttercup may replace Orange Tulip or appear alongside it. Sunbulb, Glowthorn, and Lightshoot are listed as accepted without the Glimmering mutation, so a plain one may cover that request. Higher tiers can also ask for crops from Enchanted Seed Packs, so check there if you're short.
Tier 5 has the best chest chance and the biggest payout. Picking the Fairy Chest there gives you three. If none of the rewards is a chest, keep advancing through the tiers. After Tier 5, the restart fee is 7,500 Fairy Points. The well's automatic reset timing varies from player to player, so don't plan around a set timer.
Redcap's Fairy Chest Odds
Earning a chest and rolling Redcap are two separate steps. You pick the chest from the well's rewards. Then opening the chest rolls one random result, and you don't get to choose it.

Each regular Fairy Chest has six possible results. The odds aren't official numbers, so if the in-game odds screen shows something different, trust the screen.
| Result | Type | Chance per chest |
|---|---|---|
| Jellycap Seed | Seed | 35% |
| Wolpertinger | Pet | 35% |
| Glimmervine Seed | Seed | 14.5% |
| Redcap | Pet | 14.5% |
| Prism Plume Seed | Seed | 0.5% |
| Manticore | Pet | 0.5% |
The 14.5% applies to each regular chest you open. It isn't a chance per Fairy Favor, so submitting more fruit doesn't add a Redcap roll on its own. Each chest is a separate roll, including the three from a Tier 5 pick. The Prism Plume Seed is also a 0.5% result, and the Prism Plume guide covers that route.
Planning a run is simple math. At 14.5% per chest, five chests give about a 54.3% chance of at least one Redcap, and ten chests give about 79.1%. Those numbers assume each roll is independent and there's no pity system, so a streak of misses doesn't make the next chest more likely to be Redcap. They're odds, not a guarantee. A Fairy Chest also isn't an Enchanted Egg, so opening one doesn't start a hatch.
What Redcap's Curse Does
Redcap's passive needs an active pet slot. Once it's equipped there, the passive activates about every 19 to 20 minutes, and each activation picks one of two random trades. The exact timer is a little fuzzy, so read these numbers as ranges.
| Outcome | Another pet's level | Egg hatch time |
|---|---|---|
| Faster eggs | Loses one level | About 20 to 21 minutes shorter |
| Stronger pet | Gains one level | About 20 to 21 minutes longer |
Each outcome helps one goal and works against the other, and you can't choose which one happens. Redcap also gains XP on every activation, equal to 12% of its current level's XP, so Redcap itself grows a little even when the trade works against you.
Is Redcap Worth Equipping?
Redcap suits a player who can live with a random setback in exchange for a random boost. If you want faster hatching or steady pet levels on purpose, the passive can undo the progress you're after, and you can't steer it. Equip it when the swing is fine, and skip it when one of your plans depends on a fixed result. Before you spend a run of chests on it, compare it with other pets on the pet tier list.
