How to Get the Meteoric Rod in Fisch

Updated on August 25, 2026 (about 16 hours ago)

The Meteoric Rod comes from Meteor Maniac Matthew's first two Astral Observatory quests in Fisch. Find him in Northern Expedition, finish Anomaly Investigation: SPACE CANDY, then complete Anomaly Investigation: METEORS GALORE to claim the rod.

The first hand-in triggers a cutscene and unlocks the second quest. The work is collecting the listed items and clearing the fallen meteors.

Find Meteor Maniac Matthew in Northern Expedition

Travel to Northern Expedition and look for the camp near the Avalanche Rod and Pickaxe area. Matthew is on a three-tier platform close to that camp. Climb up, talk to him, and accept the first anomaly investigation.

Keep the quest panel open while you collect materials. Fisch can adjust event conditions and item labels during updates, so the live task text is the safest final check. If you are comparing this route with another rod goal, the Fisch Titanium Rod guide covers a separate progression path.

Finish SPACE CANDY before you clear the 10 fallen meteors

The two quest stages use different checklists. Gather these requirements in order:

Quest stageRequirementHelpful route note
SPACE CANDY1 Cosmic RelicLook through Fallen Stars and Starfall activities.
SPACE CANDY1 MoonstoneMeteors, your Personal Aquarium, and the Daily Shop can provide one. Meteor Totems are a practical way to farm meteor drops.
SPACE CANDY1 Solar Blaze or 1 Nova Frozen WalnutYou need one of the two. Look around Overgrowth Canal or nearby caves and follow the active task condition for event or mutation-based fishing.
METEORS GALOREBreak 10 fallen meteorsUse a Pickaxe after the first hand-in. Blue-star markers point to the cleanup targets.
METEORS GALORE1 Quartz GlassSearch the Stone Cavern under the bridge in Cryogenic Canal. Foggy weather and Magnet Bait are associated with this route.
METEORS GALORE5 Solar Blaze StalactitesCollect five, then follow the live quest panel for any bait or event condition attached to them.
METEORS GALORE1 Ruby, 1 Amethyst, 1 Opal, 1 Lapis Lazuli, and 1 MoonstoneMeteors, your Personal Aquarium, and the Daily Shop are useful places to check for these gemstones.

Return to Matthew after SPACE CANDY is complete. Watch for the cutscene and the second quest before leaving. The second stage is where the Pickaxe cleanup appears, so breaking meteors early will not advance the right task.

Moonstone appears in both stages. If Fisch consumes each item during its own hand-in, keep two Moonstones available and check your inventory after the first turn-in before starting the second farm.

The exact bait or event condition for some Solar Blaze materials can vary. Follow the active quest row if it gives a different condition, especially for Solar Blaze Stalactites. That small bit of UI reading can save a surprisingly large pile of fishing time.

Check the Meteoric Rod's stats and meteor passive

Finish METEORS GALORE, then return to Matthew for the reward. The Meteoric Rod has these stats:

Meteoric Rod with dark crystalline material and glowing purple cracks

StatValue
Lure Speed75%
Luck175%
Control0.05
Resilience25%
Max Kg550,000 kg
Cragged mutation chance20% chance with a 7x multiplier

While you fish, a meteor enters the minigame every 4 to 6.5 seconds, with up to five meteors appearing during one catch. Dodge a meteor to gain 10% Progress. If one hits the Control Bar, you lose 15% Progress. The passive gives the rod its identity, although the minigame will still ask you to pay attention instead of admiring the purple cracks.

Once you have the rod, the Fisch The Deep Rod guide gives you another longer-term rod route to work toward.
