How Gloves Work in Crimson Desert

Gloves fill the hand slot of your armor, and every pair adds both Attack and Defense. Most other armor, such as the pieces for your body, head and cloak, adds only Defense. Boots are the one other slot that also adds Attack, which is why gloves deserve a closer look than their size suggests.

Upgrading works the same way for both. Each refinement level raises Attack and Defense together, so every upgrade step lifts two stats instead of one. That's why gloves are worth paying attention to once you start improving your gear.

Who Can Wear Which Gloves

Most gloves are made for Kliff and Oongka, who can wear the same ones. Damiane has her own set, and a few pairs work for all three characters. Check who a pair fits before you spend materials refining it, because upgrading gloves your character can't wear is wasted effort.

Cloth, Leather, Plate and Chain Gloves Compared

Material makes the biggest difference between gloves, so it's the quickest way to narrow your options. Cloth gives the least Defense of any material here, and its Attack sits a little below leather's. Leather comes next, and every leather pair has the same Defense, so leather pairs mostly differ by Attack and their bonuses.

Plate covers the widest range. Plate pairs reach the highest Attack of any glove and include some of the top Defense too, but others give less Defense than leather does, so check each pair instead of assuming plate always wins. Plate also has no weight to slow you down. Chain shows up in the Crimson Chaser Chain Gloves, which sit near the top for both Attack and Defense.

Built-In Bonuses and Sockets on Gloves

Many gloves carry extra effects built into the pair, on top of Attack and Defense. Critical Rate helps your hits land as criticals more often, Attack Speed lets you attack faster, and resistance protects you against one type of damage. Each bonus comes at a level, so pairs with the same bonus can still differ.

The bonuses tend to follow the material. Cloth gloves nearly always carry Attack Speed, and leather gloves nearly always carry Lightning Resistance and often add Critical Rate. Most plate gloves carry no built-in bonus at all, so if raw Attack and Defense is what you want, plate is the place to look.

Gloves also have sockets where Abyss Gears can be fitted. Those gears add effects that aren't part of a pair's own stats, so a socketed pair can do more than its stats alone suggest. Don't confuse them with Abyss Artifacts, which are a separate item.

Some pairs come with their sockets already filled. The Ashad Plate Gloves, for example, come with Abyss Gears already fitted, including a damage reduction effect. That damage reduction is separate from Defense, so it doesn't add to the Defense value.

How to Refine Gloves in Crimson Desert

Gloves can be refined from their base level up to the maximum at a blacksmith. The blacksmith in the middle of Hernand, the starting town, is the place to begin. Refining costs materials rather than silver, and to see what each level needs, open Inspect in your inventory and choose Refinement Information.

Each level raises both Attack and Defense, which is what makes refining gloves worth the effort. The materials depend on the pair's material. Plate needs ore, which you mine from deposits on mountain walls with a pickaxe, while leather needs hides and bones from animals you hunt. Cloth needs cloth pieces and fleece.

The pickaxe and the cloth materials are sold at the Provisioner's Shop, the house across from the Hernand blacksmith. The first upgrade step usually asks for no materials, so there's little reason to skip it. The higher levels cost more, with an Abyss Artifact needed at each step, and the final level calls for an Aeserion's Scale. Since Abyss Artifacts can also upgrade your skills, decide early how many you're willing to spend on gloves.

Where to Get Gloves in Crimson Desert

Gloves come from several routes. Merchants in towns such as Hernand, Demeniss, Delesyia, Pailune and Tariv sell many pairs, and newer pairs from Charting the Unknown can be bought in Demeniss and Samora. Some pairs are also crafted at a blacksmith once you learn the right blueprint or one of the Armors of the World books for cloth, leather or plate.

Shadowleaf Gloves, for example, are unlocked through a blueprint, while leather and plate pairs often come from the matching book. Other pairs are quest rewards, or drop from enemies such as Dusksong and the Dragon Knight Commander. Some gloves are simply found in the open world, and a few sit in chests in caves, so exploring is worth the time.

Which Crimson Desert Gloves Matter Most

No single pair is best for everyone. The right choice depends on whether you want more Attack or more Defense, and on who's wearing the gloves. Tier labels group gloves rather than rank them, so a lower-tier pair can match a higher-tier one, as Demenissian Elite Plate Gloves and Light of the Battlefield Plate Gloves do.

If you want one pair every character can wear, Dark Marksman's Plate Gloves are a strong all-round choice, with some of the highest Defense of any glove. Odeck's Protector Plate Gloves are open to everyone too, but they lean toward Attack instead. Damiane has strong plate options of her own, such as Goldlight Plate Gloves and White Bloodwind Plate Gloves, which strike a good balance between the two.

If resistance matters more to you, Insulated Gloves carry the strongest Lightning Resistance of any glove while still giving you a reasonable amount of Attack. Champion's Plate Gloves are a sturdy pick for Kliff and Oongka, pairing strong Attack and Defense with a Critical Rate bonus.
