South Los Santos & Port
Start after Repossession and work through the airport, port, scrapyard, and Davis. Any protagonist can pick these up; the island entry needs water access.
Central & East Los Santos
The crane is the main elevated approach in this leg. Use its ladder rather than assuming an aircraft is required.
West Los Santos & Vinewood
The canal, beach, studio, cemetery, country club, and Vinewood Hills entries form a west-to-north city sweep. The Vinewood Sign uses its ladder.
Great Chaparral & Grand Senora Desert
Leave the city through the mine, farms, track, cove, motel, airfield, and cement works. Boats, swimming, or an aircraft can help at the isolated water and rock approaches.
Zancudo, Alamo Sea & Northeast Blaine County
Keep the culvert, swamp, cliff, shore, fishery, farm, and lighthouse distinct when checking a missing pickup. The Raton Canyon entry sits high above Cassidy Creek.
Paleto Bay & Mount Chiliad
Finish in the north with the truck stop, Dignity Village, Paleto Bay, Mount Chiliad, the sawmill, and the remote antenna. The cable car is a practical option for the summit terminal.
Each entry keeps the route order, map area, nearest landmark, exact pickup spot, and the one approach detail most likely to save a trip. Region headings are geographic route legs rather than game-defined collectible IDs. Use search for a landmark or area, switch to Not found when you are cleaning up a save, and use Found to review what you already marked.
Unlock and completion
The pickups become available after Repossession. Michael, Franklin, or Trevor can collect them, and Franklin can ask Chop to help search for a nearby scrap. Every pickup contributes to Story Mode 100% completion.
Finishing the set reconstructs Leonora Johnson's confession and unlocks A Starlet in Vinewood for Franklin. The achievement or trophy also needs the follow-up mission, so finding the final paper is not the last step of that challenge.
Route and difficult approaches
The sections follow a south-to-north sweep through Los Santos, the desert, Blaine County, and Mount Chiliad. The route number is the authoring order here, not a permanent in-game ID, so use the landmark and exact-spot text when comparing another map.
Most pickups are ground-level. The Mile High Club crane, Vinewood Sign, Stoner Cement Works, high Raton Canyon cliff, and Mount Chiliad terminal need a climb or elevated approach. The island, cove, and shoreline entries are easier with a boat or a swim, while an aircraft can save time at a few high rock formations.
Story Mode editions
The location set is shared by Original, Enhanced, and Expanded & Enhanced Story Mode releases. The screenshots use an Enhanced capture, but the locations and route apply across the supported Story Mode editions. GTA Online collectibles use different systems and are not part of this route.
FAQ
When do Letter Scraps appear?
They become available after the Repossession story mission. If a marker seems absent earlier, progress the story before retracing the route.
Can Michael, Franklin, and Trevor all collect them?
Yes. Any of the three protagonists can pick up a Letter Scrap. Franklin is the useful choice when you want Chop's nearby-search assistance.
Do Letter Scraps count toward 100% completion?
Yes. The Story Mode set is one of the requirements for 100% completion.
What unlocks after the final Letter Scrap?
The completed confession unlocks A Starlet in Vinewood for Franklin. Finish that follow-up mission if you also want the A Mystery, Solved achievement or trophy.
Are the route numbers in the game?
No. The numbers keep this route in a stable order based on the location route. Use the landmark and exact spot as the durable identity when another guide uses different numbering.
Do GTA Online collectibles use this route?
No. This route is for GTA V Story Mode. GTA Online sets such as Playing Cards, Action Figures, and Signal Jammers follow separate collectible rules.
