Sound Breathing is hidden behind Sound Trainer Tengai in Iceveil Valley, not the nearby Sound Hashira world boss. To unlock it, you need the right level and materials, survive the cold route to Tengai's ledge, complete five training activities, and defeat the Sound Trainee at the end.
Slayers 2 Sound Breathing Requirements
Collect these items before you make the trip to Iceveil Valley:
| Requirement | Amount |
|---|---|
| Slayer level | 25 |
| Wen | 4,000 |
| Demon Horns | 10 |
| Beast Cores | 3 |
The 4,000 Wen amount is the current guide value for the trainer interaction. If Tengai shows a different cash requirement in your game client, follow the amount in the interaction prompt. The three Beast Cores are part of the Sound gate, so do not leave them out while preparing your materials.
Demon Horns come from demon enemies, and the Hoyuzo Subordinates in the Bamboo Grove waterfall cave are a useful early farming route. The drop is chance-based, so there is no guaranteed number of kills. You can follow the Demon Horns farming guide for Slayers 2 for that route.
For Beast Cores, look for Beast Born Demons around Mistfall Harbour or Mistfall Village at night. Their drops are also chance-based, so keep farming until you have all three instead of planning around a fixed kill count.
Where to Find Sound Trainer Tengai in Iceveil Valley
Start from the Mother Bear and Windy Peak side of the map, then enter the snowy Iceveil Valley gate. Cold damage drains your health on this route, so use campfires when you find them or bring a cold-protection lantern if you have one. Keep the Sound objective marker active so you can use the nearby Sound Trainee or world-boss area as your landmark.

When you reach the high ledge near that area, drop into the water and swim to the opposite cliff. Use Wall Climb to reach the upper ledge. Double Jump can make the climb easier, but Wall Climb is the traversal ability consistently needed for this approach.
Sound Trainer Tengai waits at the top of the climb:

Speak to the trainer after meeting the level and material requirements to start the Sound Breathing training tracker. The Tengai on this ledge is the trainer who starts the unlock route. The Sound Hashira Tengai is a separate world-boss encounter, so defeating or finding that boss is not a replacement for this interaction.
How to Complete the Slayers 2 Sound Breathing Training Tasks
Tengai sends you through these objectives in order: Push Ups, Barbell Squats, Boulder Split, Cup Training, Underwater Rocks, and finally the Sound Trainee fight. The first five are noncombat activities. Follow the active marker, then use the completion checks below to know when each task is actually finished.

Push Ups
Go to the marked training mat and complete the timed ring or button prompts. Use the on-screen input as each prompt appears, then continue until the training tracker advances to Barbell Squats.
Barbell Squats
At the marked squat station, keep the moving indicator inside the green section of the vertical meter. Continue correcting its position until the progress reaches completion and the tracker moves on. The green zone is the important part of this activity, not simply reaching the station and leaving it.
Boulder Split
Follow the marker to the rope-wrapped boulder near the Windy Peak training route. Complete the circular or other on-screen input prompts, then wait for the final split animation and the tracker update before moving to the next objective.
Cup Training
At the three-cup table, watch the ball as the cups shuffle and choose the cup hiding it. You need 10 correct selections, and the activity gives you three lives for mistakes. Keep following the ball between shuffles rather than guessing from the cup's starting position.
Underwater Rocks

At the marked water area, collect five glowing rocks. Your oxygen meter limits how long you can stay below the surface, so swim up for air between pickups when necessary and return to the objective marker. Confirm that the Sound tracker reads 5/5 before leaving the water. The same oxygen-and-five-target pattern is explained in the Slayers 2 Water Underwater Rocks guide, but the Sound training tracker and its active marker are what matter here.
How to Defeat the Sound Trainee and Unlock Sound Breathing
After Underwater Rocks is complete, follow the next marker toward the snowy Iceveil Settlement or the nearby building area. The final objective is a fight against the Sound Trainee:

Defeat the Sound Trainee to finish the route and unlock Sound Breathing. Then press M, open Skill Tree, and select the Sound branch to spend Skill Points on its forms. Unlocking the style gives you access to that branch, but it does not automatically purchase every Sound move.
If the route is not starting, check the level and all four entries in the requirements table first. If the climb is the problem, make sure Wall Climb is available and manage the cold with campfires or a lantern. During training, stay at each station until the tracker advances, and verify the Underwater Rocks count reaches 5/5 before heading to the final marker.
