The Haunted Egg is a Mythical egg from Grow a Garden's Halloween Event 2026, which started October 17, 2026. You can get it two ways: a reward roll at the Witches Brew cauldron on the event island, or 1,500 Candy Corn at the Frightening Fauna Shop when it's in stock. Once you have it, the egg takes four hours to hatch into one of four pets. The rarest of them, Haunted Knight, has a 0.5% hatch chance.
How to Get the Haunted Egg in Grow a Garden
The Witches Brew cauldron is the route that doesn't cost Candy Corn. It's a roll, though, so you may need several tries. For the other eggs and their routes, see the egg collection.

- Head to the event island and find the Witches Brew cauldron.
- Contribute Halloween fruit from a normal garden or fruit with a Halloween mutation. Higher-tier fruit adds more progress, so the bar fills faster.
- When the cauldron fills, everyone who contributed gets a chance at the available rewards.
- Wait out the two-minute cooldown, then contribute again if you didn't get the egg.
Witches Brew Reward Odds
The regular contributor panel lists the Haunted Egg at 16.67%, and its header says regular contributors have a 50% chance of one reward. Top contributors get a separate list where the Haunted Egg shows as two eggs at 50%. A single cycle may not be enough, so plan on running the cauldron a few times.

Buying the Egg With Candy Corn
The Frightening Fauna Shop sells the Haunted Egg for 1,500 Candy Corn when it's in stock. Stock isn't guaranteed, so check the shop before you spend time farming Candy Corn for it.
Candy Corn also comes from the Witches Brew cauldron. Only fruit with a Halloween-themed mutation or from a Halloween-themed plant counts for Candy Corn. Each qualifying turn-in pays up to 10 Candy Corn, and top contributors get a bonus on top. At the base rate, 1,500 Candy Corn works out to about 150 turn-ins before any top-contributor bonus. If the shop doesn't have the egg, the cauldron roll is the other way to get it.
Haunted Egg Pets and Hatch Chances
Place the egg to start the four-hour timer. When it finishes, hatch it to get one of four pets, each with its own chance and ability. The odds panel below shows all four side by side.

Here's how the four pets compare. For every other pet, see the pet collection.
| Pet | Rarity | Hatch chance | Ability |
|---|---|---|---|
| Skull Snail | Rare | 55% | Skull and Bones, Cranial Luck |
| Lantern Wisp | Legendary | 35% | Whim-of-the-Wisp |
| Gargoyle | Mythical | 9.5% | Stone Form |
| Haunted Knight | Prismatic | 0.5% | Reins of Destruction |
Skull Snail and Lantern Wisp make up 90% of hatches, so most eggs give you one of those two. Each pet's ability is below, one at a time.
Skull Snail: Seeds and Lucky Harvests
Skull and Bones raises the chance that harvested plants drop seeds. Cranial Luck gives Lucky Harvests a chance to advance the harvested plant's growth by two hours. It's the most common result, so it's the one you'll see most often.

Lantern Wisp: The Well Requirement
Whim-of-the-Wisp gives your pets bonus XP per second for every Halloween cosmetic in your garden. That bonus only works while a well cosmetic sits in your garden. Read the pet's in-game description for the well's exact name.
Gargoyle: Stone Form Effects
Stone Form makes the Gargoyle occasionally land and turn into stone. When that happens, nearby pets either get their ability cooldowns advanced or gain XP.
Haunted Knight: The Nightmare Reset
Reins of Destruction occasionally haunts a Nightmare pet. It resets that pet to age 31 and applies the Haunted mutation, and a rare roll applies Everhaunted instead. The reset is the catch: any age the Nightmare pet had above 31 is gone.
Every egg is a fresh roll. More eggs means more chances at Haunted Knight, but nothing guarantees one, so don't plan around the rarest pet. If you want another pet from the same event to chase, the Eyeball Monster guide covers a different one.
