Animal Corporation sends the Hazmat Team when green slime floods the hospital. You still admit and treat patients while Slimebert roams the halls. Treat it as a special later shift, not your usual fire drill.

The shift starts when the air feels slimy
Green text at the top of the screen reads "The air feels slimy." That is your warning that the slime takeover has begun.
The event usually hits on a later special shift, commonly reported between shifts 11 and 17. On a first run, many players see it around shifts 11 or 12. After that, slime outbreaks can return as random special shifts once the update content is unlocked.
Once it starts, green slime spreads across floors, walls, furniture, and beds. Green fog fills the halls, and walking through slime slows you down. The slime itself does not directly hurt you, but slowing every hallway trip is rude enough on its own.
Outside, a yellow Animal Corporation presence shows up. Two Hazmat-suited NPCs enter and slowly scrub contamination from the environment.
What the Hazmat NPCs handle:
- Clean slime from floors, walls, and surfaces over time
- Work through the hospital while you keep running patients
What they do not do:
- Stop or remove Slimebert
- Replace your job at the check-in desk or treatment rooms
The shift runs like a normal hospital round with extra hazards layered on top. Other timed crises from the Animal Hospital emergencies list can still fire while slime is everywhere, so keep an eye on the usual clocks.
Use the fire extinguisher on Slimebert, but keep treating patients
Slimebert is a large slime anomaly that roams the hallways during this shift. It moves slowly and does not chase you across the map. It ignores the Hazmat NPCs, but it will swallow players and patients that walk into its range.
You cannot kill Slimebert. Tasers and guns do nothing. The working counter is a fire extinguisher, which stuns or pushes it back for several seconds when you spray it.
Use the extinguisher reactively, not as a hunting tool. Grab one from the wall when Slimebert blocks your path, spray until you have room to move, then get back to work. Chasing it around the hospital wastes time while real patients still need care.
Sometimes Slimebert checks in at reception in a slime-covered form, then barges in without approval. Keep moving and do not let it pin you in a hallway.
If Slimebert swallows you, expect a large sanity hit from the digest effect. Keep coffee or chocolate handy during this shift so you can recover sanity quickly if you get caught.
Your main goal is to finish check-ins and treatments like any other shift. When the shift ends, the slime threat ends with it. Cough Syrup also clears slime faster if you want a cleanup option beyond the extinguisher.
While patients keep arriving, keep running your anomaly checks at the window too. Fake patients do not take a break just because the halls are green.
Hire Sam next shift if you can, and Firefighter helps but is optional
After you survive the slime shift, Sam appears. He is a calico cat in a hazmat suit who used to work containment for Animal Corporation. Hire him for $250 and he stays for three shifts.
Sam patrols the hospital and handles slime cleanup, room fires, and Hiders. He ignores Ghosts and cannot defeat every anomaly. He also does not remove Slimebert during an active slime shift, so do not expect a mid-event rescue.
Save money during the slime shift if you plan to hire Sam on the next one. He can show up again after future slime special shifts if you need another contract.
The Firefighter class costs 1,100 Animal Coins and starts you with a personal fire extinguisher that recharges in your inventory. That makes Slimebert stuns easier to chain without running back to a wall mount every time. See the classes list for the full roster.
Firefighter is a solid pick for slime shifts, but it is not required. Any class can survive with the wall-mounted extinguisher if you play reactively and prioritize patients.
For broader Animal Hospital prep, strong check-in habits and sanity management matter as much as your class choice.
