The Rain Shift (also called a Rainy Shift) is a special weather shift in Roblox Animal Hospital. Mid-run, the hospital can start raining, every patient at the desk turns into a fish, and leak puddles on the floor restore Sanity when you step on them.
It is not the slime cleanup loop. That is a different special shift with its own hazards and Hazmat crew. Rain is weather, fish check-ins, and free Sanity if you use the puddles.

How the Rain Shift starts
Rain does not show up on Shift 1. The chance begins around Shift 3 (after Shift 2 finishes) and can roll on later shifts too. It is chance-based, not a fixed appointment, so a long run can see it more than once.
You will usually notice it before the desk fully changes:
| Cue | What it means |
|---|---|
| On-screen line like "it starts to rain outside…" | Special rain weather just started |
| Rain sound and visuals outside | Confirm the shift is live |
| Ceiling leaks and floor puddles | Free Sanity when you walk through them |
| Only fish at check-in | Normal patients for this shift |
That is different from the Hazmat Team event, which is the slime special shift with cleanup NPCs and slime hazards. Rain does not bring its own boss or Hazmat-style cleanup crew. You still run check-in, treat, and clear anomalies.
What to do with fish patients and puddles
During the Rain Shift, patients that arrive are fish (aquatic skins) instead of the usual mix. They still need normal treatment when they are safe to admit. Fish also talk oddly (many players hear an "ub" sound before vowels). That is flavor at the window, not proof they are real or fake.
Anomalies can still appear as fish. Keep using your reference photo, security cameras, shutter reject, and Gun or Taser when you need them. Same rules as any other shift, including the full anomaly detection checks.
Floor puddles from the leaks are a bonus, not a trap. Step on a puddle for +1 Sanity (Rain). If you play Psychologist, that class doubles all Sanity gains and losses, so each puddle is worth 2 Sanity through the class rule, not a separate rain perk.
When the special shift ends, the rain stops, puddles fade over time, and the usual patient mix comes back. Keep the same hospital loop either way.
Quick loop while it rains:
- Read the rain cue (message, weather, leaks).
- Check every fish like any other patient (photo + cameras).
- Step puddles for free Sanity when you pass them.
- Do not treat it like slime (no Hazmat cleanup crew; puddles help, they are not the hazard).
