Heavyweight Fishing is a Roblox game about catching giant fish and growing stronger over time. You start on Beginning Isle, the first island, where a tutorial teaches the basics before you move on.
Each catch begins when you cast your line and hook a fish, and then you wear the fish down with skills. Skills are active abilities that drain the fish's health bar. Once the fish is weak enough to bring in, you reel it with a timing challenge. You watch a tension indicator slide along a bar with green safe zones and red danger zones, and you try to keep it in the green.
A landed fish sells for Cash, and that Cash buys better rods, bait, and skills. Each upgrade shortens your fights, which lets you take on bigger fish, unlock new islands, and work toward the sea bosses. Traits and orbs add more boosts to your skills along the way.

Game data
Fish:
Fish are the core of Heavyweight Fishing, and each island has its own kinds of fish. The Fish Index records every fish you discover, and completing it means catching every kind across the islands. Your rod's Power and Luck, along with your bait, shape how easily you land each fish. Some secret fish, such as the Rainbow Dragon Fish and Frost Queen Fish, are summoned with their own bait, and catches sell to the Fish Buyer for Cash.
Fishing Rods:
Fishing rods are the main tools in Heavyweight Fishing, and each one is defined by Power, which makes it stronger at catching fish, and Luck, which raises your odds of better catches. Most rods are bought with Cash from the Rod Seller on each island, while the strongest ones are crafted, unlocked through quests, or found in hidden spots. Each island asks for a minimum Power before you can fish there, so upgrade your rod before targeting tougher catches.
Skills:
Skills are the special abilities you equip and use during reel fights with heavy fish and bosses in Heavyweight Fishing. They can stun a target, keep damaging it over time, block damage from boss skills, heal you, or boost your rod's Power. You can get them from the Cash shop, the Taiji and Egoless summon banners, quests, or drops from certain fish and bosses. A skill does nothing until it's equipped in an unlocked slot.
Traits:
Traits are passive bonuses attached to individual skills in Heavyweight Fishing, and each skill holds only one. You roll for them with Trait Crystals by talking to Nanjiang, and each new roll replaces the current Trait right away.
Orbs:
Orbs are items you equip in Heavyweight Fishing to get bonuses such as more damage, extra cash, shorter waits between skills and better drop chances. Each Orb only helps one family of skills, so check that before you equip it. Orbs come from merchants, fish, quests, a boss fight and the summon banner, and the Orbs tab in your inventory is where you equip them.
NPCs:
NPCs are the non-player characters you deal with throughout Heavyweight Fishing. Each one has a main job, such as buying your fish, selling bait, rods, boats and skills, handing out quests, or setting your spawn point on a new island. Many of the game's main systems run through them, so knowing who does what helps you plan each session.
Islands:
Islands are the fishing areas of Heavyweight Fishing, and each one has its own fish, rods, and characters. They fall into a main fishing route, where each step asks for more Power than the one before, plus extra destinations, Battlefield Isle and Mistpeak Isle, that sit outside that line. The Compass points players toward whichever island they choose, so they don't have to remember where each one is.
Bait:
Bait in Heavyweight Fishing comes in two groups. Luck bait, sold by the Bait Seller on the Beginning Isle, raises your Luck stat so rarer fish show up more often, and higher tiers cost more Cash. Summon bait also comes from the Bait Seller and calls up specific rare fish on demand, and those fish are needed for some of the game's strongest rods.

Heavyweight Fishing Gameplay Tips
- Practice the reel on Beginning Isle. The tutorial is there, and you don't need any Power to fish it, so you can build your timing before you move on.
- Equip your skills before you cast. Owning a skill does nothing by itself. It has to sit in a skill slot to show up on your hotbar during a fight.
- Equip Reel Sprint for sudden speed changes. When the bar speeds up without warning, Reel Sprint helps you keep control of the reel.
- Use Phoenix Strike Art against sea bosses. It's built for boss damage, so it's most useful when you're up against a sea boss.
- Save One-Strike Heaven Gate for heavy catches. It's designed to finish big fish quickly, so a heavy catch doesn't drag on.
