Armor covers more than damage reduction. Body gear protects you, warm clothing slows freezing, boots change movement, and specialist wearables add effects that can rescue a run when the forest gets rude.

Choosing body armor
Start with the threat you expect to face. Basic body armor reduces incoming damage, while other choices add poison or contact retaliation, Alien Tech Energy recovery, an explosion meter, nighttime healing, or a Hard Mode corruption tradeoff.
Do not rank those effects as if they solve the same problem. Alien Armor supports Alien Tech gear, Obsidiron Body fits its matching meter setup, and Vampire Cloak rewards nighttime survival. Corrupted Armour adds protection through the Hard Mode chest route, but its corruption pressure still needs managing.
Layering cold and movement gear
Warm clothing can be worn alongside body armor, so cold protection does not have to replace your main defensive piece. Use the known Warmth rating when comparing shop pieces, but do not assign a made-up number to Mammoth Helmet just because it comes later.
Boots also layer with body armor and warm clothing. Frog Boots improve jumping, while Obsidiron Boots improve sprinting and contribute to the Obsidiron explosion-meter setup. Pick the movement effect that helps your route instead of choosing footwear by dramatic name alone.
Infernal Helmet fills a separate specialist role. It reduces damage and grants immunity to burning, and it can be worn with body armor and boots.
Using Armor Trim Kits
An Armor Trim Kit improves damage resistance on Leather Body, Poison Armor, Iron Body, Thorn Body, Alien Armor, and Obsidiron Body. Warm clothing, boots, and helmets cannot be trimmed.
Riot Shield is held combat gear rather than wearable Armor. Treat it as a weapon and defensive tool, not another body piece competing for your equipment setup.
FAQ
Can I wear warm clothing with body armor?
Yes. Warm clothing can layer with body armor, so you can slow freezing without giving up your main body protection.
What is the difference between Frog Boots and Obsidiron Boots?
Frog Boots improve jump power. Obsidiron Boots increase sprint speed and also contribute to the Obsidiron explosion-meter setup.
Which armor works with an Armor Trim Kit?
Leather Body, Poison Armor, Iron Body, Thorn Body, Alien Armor, and Obsidiron Body can be trimmed. Warm clothing, boots, and helmets cannot.
How do I get Corrupted Armour?
Activate Hard Mode, then search Corrupted Chests through its corruption route. The armor improves survivability but adds corruption-management pressure.
Is Riot Shield wearable armor?
No. Riot Shield is held combat gear, so it belongs with weapons and defensive tools rather than wearable Armor.
