Choosing body armor

Start with the threat you expect to face. Basic body armor reduces incoming damage, while other choices add poison or contact retaliation, Alien Tech Energy recovery, an explosion meter, nighttime healing, or a Hard Mode corruption tradeoff.

Do not rank those effects as if they solve the same problem. Alien Armor supports Alien Tech gear, Obsidiron Body fits its matching meter setup, and Vampire Cloak rewards nighttime survival. Corrupted Armour adds protection through the Hard Mode chest route, but its corruption pressure still needs managing.

Layering cold and movement gear

Warm clothing can be worn alongside body armor, so cold protection does not have to replace your main defensive piece. Use the known Warmth rating when comparing shop pieces, but do not assign a made-up number to Mammoth Helmet just because it comes later.

Boots also layer with body armor and warm clothing. Frog Boots improve jumping, while Obsidiron Boots improve sprinting and contribute to the Obsidiron explosion-meter setup. Pick the movement effect that helps your route instead of choosing footwear by dramatic name alone.

Infernal Helmet fills a separate specialist role. It reduces damage and grants immunity to burning, and it can be worn with body armor and boots.
