Spectral Mutation is worth the trip, since community guides put its income boost at 2.75× on the egg. It comes in two parts. First you ride the Phantom Express and trade Souls for a Spectral consumable. Then you use that consumable on an egg, and that step is a roll that community guides put at 25%.
Everything starts with Echo's quest, since you can't reach the train's event area without the Phantom Express Ticket it hands out. Update 9 announced the Halloween Dimension on October 17, 2026.
How to Get the Phantom Express Ticket
Walk to the portal at spawn, near the Trails Shop, to enter the Halloween Dimension. Echo is near the witch-hat house and graveyard. Talk to him to start Echo's Memories, the quest that ends with the ticket.
Find Echo's Four Lost Items
Echo sends you after four lost items. You can find them in any order, and these landmarks will get you close.

Items can turn up in nearby spots too, so treat the landmarks as a starting point. If a spot comes up empty, check Echo's quest banner for the clue and your count.
Earn the Ticket at the Haunted Swamp Pier
Once you have all four, the quest moves to the water.
- Return all four items to Echo, then follow him to the Ghost Fisherman at the Haunted Swamp pier.
- Talk to the Ghost Fisherman to receive the Haunted Rod.
- Cast into the swamp and steer through the underwater course. Avoid the sea mines.
- Reach the chest to get the Phantom Express Ticket.
Phantom Express Schedule and Ticket Use
The Phantom Express arrives every 30 minutes, at :00 and :30. Go to the station, watch the countdown and board when it ends. The ride takes you to a separate event area, where the spirit catching happens.
Your first boarding uses up the ticket. Look in your inventory before you start a Soul run, so you know whether you can ride again.
How to Collect Souls for Spectral Mutation
Souls are the currency for Spectral Mutation consumables, and they're separate from the Candy Corn you earn elsewhere in the Halloween Dimension. Pick up the Ghost Vacuum in the Phantom area and use it to capture spirits.
Spirit Yields and Catches Needed
Ghouler, the event boss, pays the most per catch, and Vengeful Spirits are the next best target. The table shows how many catches one 500-Soul consumable takes at each yield.

Lost Spirits are the slowest way to farm, at 50 catches for one consumable. Treat these yields as planning numbers, and watch your Soul total in the Soul Extractor panel as you go.
Trade Souls at the Soul Extractor
Trade Souls at the Soul Extractor in the Phantom area. Older guides call it the Soul Shrine, and some call the consumable a shard. Recent screenshots show one consumable for 500 Souls. Older launch coverage lists 1,000, which would roughly double every count in the table above, so check the price on the panel before you farm.
The panel shows your Soul balance next to the cost, so you can see how close you are before you trade. Head back to your base or pen to use the consumable on an egg.
How to Apply Spectral Mutation to an Egg
Use the consumable like this:
- Select the egg you want to change.
- Open that egg's interface and choose the Spectral mutation option.
- Confirm the roll.
- Check the egg to see whether Spectral applied.
Odds and Missed Rolls
Each consumable is its own roll. Community guides report the 25% chance, not an official rate, so plan around it without counting on any single roll. A missed roll leaves the egg as it was. After a miss, check your inventory. If the consumable is still there, roll again. If it's gone, trade Souls for another one.
Checking the Egg After the Roll
