You get Villain Chests by killing invading villain bosses during the Villain Hunt event in Anime Expeditions. The chest is a Legendary Reward Box.
It drops in Story, Infinite, Challenge, and Mastery. It does not drop from Villain Invasion, so that mode will not fill your bag with these boxes.

Defeat villain bosses in Story, Infinite, Challenge, or Mastery
While you play those modes, a villain can invade at random. When one appears, the game shows an on-screen alert with the villain's name and a cue that defeating them grants Villain Chests.
Beat the boss and you earn 5 Villain Chests. More than one villain can show up in the same stage, so clear each alert when it appears.
The kill-drop loop is widely capped around 75 Villain Chests per day, about 15 boss kills. After you hit that cap, more kills usually stop adding chests until the next day, so switch tasks instead of farming empty spawns.
Infinite is the usual grind mode because long runs give more invasion chances. Faster clears mean each spawn costs less time. If you are still learning modes and early pacing, the Anime Expeditions beginners guide maps the base loop that feeds this farm.
Claim the Villain Hunt milestone track on the event page as your total villains defeated climbs. Progress steps grant bonus Villain Chests and Event Coins. Use the in-game tracker for your current step rather than guessing from a calendar label.
Open chests and what they can drop
You can open chests two ways:
- Open Events, choose Villain Hunt, then open your chests there.
- Open your Items bag, select a Villain Chest, and open it.
Each chest gives one random reward. Quantities below are what you receive when that reward hits.
| Reward | Quantity | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Villain Coins | 250 | Summons, evo items, and equipment for villain content |
| Trait Crystal | 2 | Trait material |
| Stat Reroll | 2 | Rerolls unit stats |
| Stat Lock | 2 | Locks a stat while you reroll others |
| Equipment Reroll | 2 | Rerolls equipment |
| Equipment Lock | 2 | Locks equipment stats you want to keep |
| Crow (Rider) Skin | 1 | Rare chance only, not guaranteed |
Stat Reroll and Stat Lock pair with the Anime Expeditions stat reroll flow when you are tuning units. Community wiki rates put Crow (Rider) near 0.1% of rolls, with Villain Coins as the common filler. Treat that rate as a soft community figure. Plan a long farm if the skin is your goal.
Anime Expeditions codes can top up Villain Coins and Trait Crystals during this update window, but codes do not replace the chest farm.
