You tap Play and Roblox stops you with "Your device does not have enough memory to run this experience. (Error Code: 286)". Memory here means RAM, the working space your device uses while apps are open. It is not storage space. You can have plenty of free storage and still get this error, so deleting photos will not add RAM.
Error 286 is reported on iPhone, iPad, Android, and Fire tablets when Roblox cannot get enough RAM to load an experience. It is not a ban, and your account is fine. On PC, a memory shortage may appear as a crash instead, which is covered in Roblox keeps closing on PC.
It has one close relative: on iPhone and iPad, a Low Memory Warning can appear mid-game. That one is Error Code 292, the same type of memory problem at a different point.
Here is the fix order, most effective first:

Fixes that actually address the memory problem
Work top to bottom. The first three focus on RAM and graphics load. Cache clearing and reinstalling come later because they repair app data rather than add memory.
1. Close every other app
Background apps can keep RAM in use, leaving less working space for Roblox.
- Open the recent apps view. On many phones, swipe up from the bottom and hold.
- Close the other apps.
- Reopen Roblox and join the experience again.
2. Restart your device
A full restart closes running apps and gives Roblox a clean start.
- Power the device all the way off. Locking the screen does not count.
- Turn it back on.
- Open Roblox before reopening other apps.
3. Lower the graphics quality before joining heavy games
Lower graphics quality reduces the graphics work and detail Roblox tries to show. Roblox recommends this for low-memory trouble.
- Join an experience that still loads, then open the Roblox menu.
- Go to Settings and set Graphics Mode to Manual.
- Drag Graphics Quality down a few notches.

4. Check for a Roblox update
An available store update can fix app compatibility or loading problems. It does not increase your device's RAM.
Open the App Store or Google Play, search for Roblox, and tap Update if that option appears.
5. Clear the Roblox cache on Android and Fire tablets
The cache uses storage, not RAM. Clearing it will not give the device more memory, but it can remove damaged temporary files that interfere with loading.
- Open your device's app settings and select Roblox.
- Open its storage options.
- Choose Clear cache.
Settings labels can differ on Fire tablets, so find Roblox in the device's installed-app list and look for its cache control. Clearing the cache does not remove your Roblox account or server-side progress.
6. Reinstall Roblox on iPhone and iPad
iPhone and iPad do not provide a dedicated Roblox cache button. Reinstall only after the RAM-focused fixes, since it replaces local app files but does not add RAM. Your Roblox account, Robux, and server-side progress remain tied to your account.
- Remove Roblox from the device.
- Restart the device.
- Reinstall Roblox from the App Store and sign back in.
When your device cannot run one experience
If Error 286 remains in one demanding experience after the RAM-focused fixes, the device may not have enough memory for that experience. Different Roblox experiences can place very different loads on a phone or tablet.
Roblox publishes mobile system requirements and may warn that an underpowered Android device cannot run experiences smoothly. Meeting the platform requirements means the Roblox app is supported. It does not promise that every experience will fit within the device's available RAM.
If 286 appears in one experience while lighter ones work, keep graphics low or choose a less demanding experience. Roblox gives similar advice in its official Low Memory Warning help for Error 292, including using a device with more memory when the problem persists.
