Error Code 277 means your device lost its connection to the game server you were playing on. The full message says "Lost connection to the game server, please reconnect", with "Please check your internet connection and try again" underneath. It hits mid-game, on PC, Mac, and mobile.
First things first: it is not a ban. Your account is fine. The line between you and that server broke, nothing more.
Here is the fast triage. If 277 only happens in one game, that game's server probably crashed, and rejoining is the whole fix. If it happens in every game, the problem is your network or Roblox itself.
Also make sure this is your error. 277 kicks you out of a game you were already playing. If Roblox will not let you join at all, that is Error Code 279, which has its own entry in the Roblox error codes and fixes list.
Work through the fixes in this order. Start at the top and stop as soon as you are back in.

Fixes that actually work, in order
1. Rejoin the game
Start here. Game servers crash, run out of memory, or shut down for updates, and when that happens every player inside gets disconnected with 277 at the same moment. Nothing on your device caused it.
Open the game's page and join again. You will land in a fresh server. If your friends got kicked at the same time as you, it was the server, and rejoining is the whole fix.
2. Fully close and reopen Roblox
Sometimes the app keeps clinging to a connection that is already dead.
- Close Roblox completely. On PC, end it in Task Manager if the window will not close. On mobile, swipe it away from your recent apps.
- Wait a few seconds.
- Open Roblox and rejoin.

3. Restart your router
277 is a connection error, and the connection that fails most often is the one in your house.
- Unplug your router, and your modem if it is separate.
- Wait about 30 seconds.
- Plug everything back in and let it fully reconnect.

4. Switch connections to test your network
This one is a test as much as a fix. On PC, plug in an ethernet cable instead of using WiFi. On mobile, switch from WiFi to mobile data, or the other way around.
If Roblox runs fine on the other connection, your original network is the problem. Restart the router again, move closer to it, or ask whoever runs the internet in your home to check it.
5. Turn off your VPN
A VPN adds an extra stop between you and the game server, and when that stop stumbles, you get dropped. Roblox itself recommends playing without one. Turn the VPN off completely, then rejoin.
6. Let Roblox through your firewall and antivirus
Security software sometimes decides mid-session that Roblox looks suspicious and cuts it off. Open your firewall's allowed apps list and make sure Roblox is on it. Do the same in your antivirus if it has its own app control.
7. Do a clean reinstall
Last resort, for when broken app files keep killing your sessions. On Windows, Roblox's official fix also wipes the leftover app data that a normal uninstall leaves behind. It is the same deep clean used when Roblox hits an unexpected error and needs to quit.
- Uninstall Roblox from your Apps settings.

The date and time check matters more than it sounds. A wrong clock breaks the secure connection to the server, and Roblox drops you.
When it is not your fault
Some 277 kicks have nothing to do with your device or network. A game server that crashes or gets shut down disconnects its whole player list at once, and no setting on your side prevents that. If one specific game keeps doing it, the developer has to fix their server. Your only move is to rejoin.
If every game is failing at the same time, check the official Roblox status page. When Roblox itself is having problems, waiting is the only fix that works.

Searching this error turns up sites offering a downloadable "Roblox 277 fixer" or "repair tool". Do not download them. There is no legitimate 277 tool, official or otherwise. Those downloads exist to put malware on your device.
