Wizard hats are Wizard Alchemy's head-slot defensive gear. They add HP so you can survive harder enemy loops, and the Lava Wizard Hat adds lava resistance for Sea of Oblivion routes. The useful comparison is cost, HP, source location, and whether the hat is a normal Roger shop buy or a New Mainland pickup.

Roger's shop hats
Roger's shop hats are the normal defensive route: Starmoon is the cheap early HP buy, while Golden Reverie and Starlight are the 8K Gold options. Check Starlight's in-game stat line before choosing it over Golden Reverie because its HP value has appeared inconsistently.

Sea of Oblivion hat
Lava Wizard Hat belongs to the Sea of Oblivion route instead of Roger's normal shop path. Its +40 HP is useful, but the extra +100% lava resistance is the reason it stands apart from the other hats.

How hats fit into survival
Wizard hats are defensive upgrades, not damage upgrades. Extra HP gives you more room when enemies hit hard, but it does not make a weak wand, low-grade potion, or poor spell route clear fights faster. A good hat buy should solve a survival problem without delaying every damage upgrade you still need.
Starmoon Hat is the early safety buy. Golden Reverie Hat is the clean 8K shop upgrade because its +40 HP value is consistent. Starlight Hat may match it, but read the in-game shop stat before spending 8K Gold if you are choosing between the two. Lava Wizard Hat is a different kind of goal because it adds lava resistance for Sea of Oblivion routes.
How to buy or find the next hat
- Visit Roger's Equipment Shop at spawn and open the Wizard Hat tab for Starmoon, Golden Reverie, and Starlight.
- Buy Starmoon when early enemies are forcing too many heals or respawns.
- Move to Golden Reverie or Starlight once 8K Gold is affordable without stalling your wand and potion route.
- Check Starlight's shop stat before buying if you need the exact HP number.
- Look for Lava Wizard Hat in Sea of Oblivion when lava resistance matters more than a normal shop upgrade.
How to compare defensive value
| Situation | Better read | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Early farming feels risky | Starmoon Hat | It is much cheaper and still adds +20 HP. |
| You need the safest 8K shop pick | Golden Reverie Hat | Its +40 HP listing is the most stable high-HP shop value. |
| You want Starlight's look or stat line | Verify in Roger's shop | Its listed HP has appeared inconsistently, so confirm before spending. |
| Sea of Oblivion lava routes matter | Lava Wizard Hat | It adds +40 HP and +100% lava resistance instead of only HP. |
HP is most useful when it prevents a death that would interrupt farming or boss attempts. If fights are slow because your damage is low, upgrade your wand, brew stronger potions, or refine spells before putting every spare Gold into defensive gear.
FAQ
How many wizard hats are in Wizard Alchemy?
There are 4 tracked wizard hats: Starmoon Hat, Golden Reverie Hat, Starlight Hat, and Lava Wizard Hat. The first three are Roger shop hats, while Lava Wizard Hat belongs to the Sea of Oblivion route.
What is the best wizard hat in Wizard Alchemy?
Golden Reverie Hat is the safest normal shop answer because it costs 8K Gold and is consistently listed at +40 HP. Lava Wizard Hat is better when you specifically need Sea of Oblivion lava resistance.
Is Starlight Hat better than Golden Reverie Hat?
Treat Starlight Hat as an 8K Gold alternative, but check its in-game stat line before buying. If it shows +40 HP, it matches Golden Reverie by stat and cost. If it shows +20 HP, Golden Reverie is the stronger defensive buy.
Where do you get wizard hats?
Starmoon, Golden Reverie, and Starlight are bought from Roger's Equipment Shop through the Wizard Hat tab. Lava Wizard Hat is listed as a Sea of Oblivion pickup behind the fiery Lava waterfall next to the base.
Should you buy a hat before upgrading your wand?
Buy a hat when low HP is causing deaths, but do not let defense replace damage progression. If enemies take too long to kill, a stronger wand, better potion, or refined spell usually helps more than another HP item.
