Mobile Suit Gundam units are the machines from the original series and its related stories that you put on the battlefield in SD Gundam G Generation ETERNAL. Each one has a rarity from N to UR, a type that sets its job in battle, and terrain ratings that decide where it can fight. Once you know how those pieces fit together, picking the right units for your squad gets much easier.

What the Mobile Suit Gundam Group Includes
The Mobile Suit Gundam group in this game is wider than the original 1979 series. It also takes in the One Year War stories filed with it, including Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt, 0083: Stardust Memory, The 08th MS Team, 0080: War in the Pocket, MS IGLOO, The Blue Destiny, Rise from the Ashes and THE ORIGIN. GQuuuuuuX and the MSV, MSV-R and MS-X variations are part of the group too.
That mix means you'll see machines from several different stories side by side on one roster.
Unit Rarity: N, R, SR, SSR and UR
Rarity runs from N at the bottom, through R, SR and SSR, up to UR at the top. It's the quickest way to see how a unit fits into the roster, so it's the first thing to check on any unit.
Some UR units are marked (EX), which means they carry an EX weapon. That weapon works differently from the standard weapons on other units, so the mark is worth paying attention to.
Attack, Support and Durability Units
Every unit has one of three types, and each one has its own job. Attack units deal the main damage in a battle. Support units can join allied attacks, which are called support attacks.
Durability units take hits for nearby allies, which is called support defense. That protection gives the rest of your team room to work.
Each unit also carries Unit Abilities, which are passive boosts such as Increased ATK or an Advantage bonus tied to a series. Units have tags too, and some pilot and Supporter bonuses check those tags, so a unit's tags can decide whether a bonus applies.
Terrain: Where Mobile Suit Gundam Units Can Fight
Each unit is rated for five kinds of terrain: Space, Air, Ground, Surface and Underwater. For each one, the unit is either full strength, limited, or unable to sortie there. Check those ratings before you build a squad for a particular map.
Most units in this group are at full strength in Space and on the Ground, so those are the maps where you'll have the most options. Few are rated for Air, which means air stages call for more careful picking.
How to Get Mobile Suit Gundam Units
Unit Assembly is the gacha draw, and it's one of the main ways into the roster. Development is the other big route. You build a unit from units you already own, plus Capital and special items, and many of the lower-rarity units in this group are made this way.
Stage and event rewards can also add units, so it pays to keep up with stages and events.
Building a Squad Around Supporters and Pilots
A squad holds five unit-and-character pairs and one Supporter. Each unit is paired with a character, so you're choosing both halves of every pair.
The Supporter's Leader Skill boosts units that meet its conditions, so the Supporter you pick shapes the rest of the squad. Check its conditions first, then choose units that fit them.
The characters who pilot these units bring their own abilities and bonuses.
Which Mobile Suit Gundam Units Are Worth Building
For damage, UR units marked (EX) are the kind to build. Their EX weapons can't miss and aren't reduced by damage resistance, so they keep dealing damage against tough enemies. Zeong (EX) and Char's Zaku II (THE ORIGIN) (EX) are good examples of the kind.
For the front line, a Durability unit is the kind to build, since its whole job is absorbing hits so your attackers stay safer. Support units are worth adding once your team has attackers to pair them with, since they join allied attacks.
Attack is the most common type in this group, so you'll have plenty of attackers to choose from. The real question is usually which one fits your squad and the terrain you're fighting on.
FAQ
Can you capture Mobile Suit Gundam units?
Yes. Units can be captured during stages, which gives you another way to add one besides the draw, Development and rewards.
Do you have to pull for top-tier units?
No. Casval's Gundam is a UR made through Development, so you can build it without the draw. Most of the EX UR units in this group come from Unit Assembly, though, so the draw is still the main route to them.
Can a unit with no Space rating go on a space map?
No. A unit with no Space rating can't be deployed on a space map, so check its terrain ratings before you plan a space stage.
