Mewgenics is a turn-based game about breeding cats and sending them into battle. Each cat's class sets the role it plays in a fight, and the classes range from melee fighters and ranged hunters to spellcasters and healers. You unlock most of them by clearing areas of the map and speaking with Butch, so your options grow as you play.

How Mewgenics Classes and Collars Work
A cat's class comes from the collar it wears. Each collar adds its own stat bonuses and penalties, and it gives the cat a pool of abilities it can learn as it levels up. Together, those two things decide how the cat fights.
The Starting Mewgenics Classes
Fighter, Hunter, Mage and Tank are open from the start, so you can put a team together right away. Between them, they cover the basics of a fight. Fighters handle close-range melee damage, Hunters attack from a distance, Mages cast spells that reach across the battlefield, and Tanks form a sturdy front line that takes hits for the rest of the team. These are the classes you'll rely on first, and they're a good place to learn how the roles fit together.
What Collarless Means in Mewgenics
A cat with no collar is Collarless. It gets no stat bonuses or penalties, so it keeps the stats it was born with. Instead of a class pool, it draws on a shared set of general abilities that any cat can learn, and those abilities also appear in the level-up choices of the other classes. The trade-off is that a Collarless cat can never learn the abilities tied to a specific collar.
How to Unlock Mewgenics Classes
Most classes come from play, and each one is tied to a specific area of the map. To unlock one, clear its area for the first time, return home, and talk to Butch, who hands over the collar. Check in with Butch after each area you clear, since a new collar may be waiting.
Clearing The Alley opens Cleric, and clearing The Sewers opens Thief. The Boneyard opens Necromancer, The Bunker opens Tinkerer, and The Crater opens Druid. The Core opens Butcher, The Moon opens Psychic, The Lab opens Monk, and The Rift opens Jester.
Mewgenics Classes and Breeding
Kittens can inherit abilities, mutations and stats from their parents, but never the collar or what it adds, so a kitten doesn't start with its parent's class. Each stat comes from a single parent. Abilities are passed down by chance, so they're the main way a parent's strengths carry into the next generation. When you pick a pair, look at both stats and abilities, then put a collar on the kitten once it's ready to go into battle.
FAQ
What does the Cleric class do in Mewgenics?
Cleric is a healer that also removes harmful effects. Its Cleanse ability clears effects from an ally.
What does the Druid class do in Mewgenics?
Druid summons animal allies and brings a crow familiar into every fight. Some Druid abilities summon more familiars during a battle, so the Druid's side can grow as the fight goes on.
What does the Jester class do in Mewgenics?
Jester has no stat modifiers, so it doesn't add or take away from a cat's stats. Its ability choices come from the pools of the other classes, which gives it a mix of skills. It also gets an extra reroll at level-up, so you can redraw the options if none of them fit.
