How to Reach the Monolith of Fate in The End of Time
The route is a side quest in The End of Time called The Monolith of Fate. Its first step is speaking with the Forgotten Knight. The next is Agony, the NPC in red you'll find along the path east of the central island. Follow that path past her, and you'll reach the Monolith portal. Step through and look for the Timeline conduit inside.

The game is built for the Monolith to come after your main story, so a full campaign clear is the best way to arrive ready. It isn't required, though. Once you reach the main island in The End of Time, the route is open to you.
Your First Timeline: Fall of the Outcasts and the Echo Web
Every Timeline has a fixed area level and its own layouts, enemies, and quests. Fall of the Outcasts is the first one, at area level 62, and it's a good place to learn the loop before you take on the higher levels. Every Timeline under level 90 can be reached from the central hub, so the order is yours to pick.
When you first enter, several paths branch out from the central island, and each one leads to an Echo. An Echo is a single zone in the Timeline with its own objective. Once you finish one, the Echoes behind it are revealed, so the web grows as you go. Your first run follows a simple loop:
- Pick any Echo you can reach from the central island. You can take on any unlocked Echo at any time.
- Complete its objective.
- Follow the new paths that open up and keep going.
Each Echo you complete grants Timeline Stability, and Stability is what unlocks Quest Echoes. Stability is Timeline progress and is separate from Corruption, which comes into play later. You don't need to clear every ordinary Echo before moving on, since the Echo web shows when the next Quest Echo is ready.

Each Echo also gives its enemies a random modifier, which changes item rarity and how much experience you earn. Modifiers carry over when you complete several Echoes in a row, so you can have more than one active at a time. If you die before finishing an Echo, you miss its guaranteed reward, so take extra care on the ones you're close to finishing.
Echoes you've already attempted pay much less experience and Favor. It's better to move on to a new Echo than to keep re-running the same one.
Clearing Quest Echoes and Beating the Timeline Boss
Quest Echoes are the story milestones of a Timeline, and they always appear in the same order. A normal Timeline has three, and the third one is the boss. Work through them like this:
- Once you have enough Stability, select the unlocked Quest Echo from the top-left of the screen.
- Complete it, then move on to the next one in the sequence.
- Defeat the boss in the third Quest Echo. It drops a guaranteed item from its own pool.
- Choose one of the offered Blessings.
- Head back to the hub and pick your next Timeline.
Dying in a Quest Echo lowers your Timeline Stability, but it doesn't undo the Quest Echoes you've already finished. A Blessing is a permanent bonus for your character, such as a stat boost or better item drops, and it still applies outside the Monolith. That makes it worth a moment's thought before you pick.
You may also come across a special node called Echo of a World, which features the Shade of Orobyss. It's separate from the Quest Echo chain and isn't the Timeline boss, so you can leave it alone on your first clear.
Unlocking the Level-90 Timelines With Knowledge of Orobyss
Knowledge of Orobyss tracks your progress through the Epoch Mastery quest, where you prove to Elder Gaspar that you're ready to go deeper into the Monolith. Collect five and the level-90 Timelines open. They sit north of the central hub, behind a barrier.
You can earn Knowledge of Orobyss from the final campaign chapters, Chapter IX and Chapter X, or by conquering normal Timelines. Fall of the Empire and Reign of Dragons each give two, while the other sources give one. You can combine sources to reach five, so you don't have to finish one route first.
Opening Empowered Timelines by Defeating the First Harbinger
The first Harbinger appears during the boss Quest Echo of the first level-90 Timeline you complete. Defeat it, and you unlock Empowered Timelines and the Forgotten Knights faction. You don't need to clear all three level-90 Timelines first, because one completion is enough to bring it out.
Empowered Timelines are level 100 and start at 100 Corruption, with no maximum. Corruption raises enemy health and damage, while also increasing experience and item rarity. Normal Quest Echoes are optional in these Timelines, and you can challenge the boss as soon as its Stability requirement is met.
