How to get the Wise Owl pet in Grow a Garden

Updated on August 11, 2026 (about 1 hour ago)

The Wise Owl is a Divine, limited pet from Harvest Moon Event Part 2 (Update 1.62.0, August 8, 2026). You earn Moon Chests during that event window and open them for a 0.5% shot at the pet.

Two different things use the name "Wise Owl." The event owl (often called the Harvest Moon Owl) is the NPC you feed plants to fill a progress bar. The Wise Owl pet is a separate Divine reward that can roll from the chest. This is also not the 2025 Lunar Glow "Wise Owl / Wise Old Owl" NPC that led into Mythical Owl rewards.

The free loop is simple: match the event owl's current plant trait, bank 500 points, open the Moon Chest, then try again if the pet did not drop.

How to get the Wise Owl from Moon Chests

  1. Find the Harvest Moon event owl NPC and check which plant trait it wants right now.
  2. Feed only plants with that trait until the bar hits 500 points. Wrong traits do not fill the chest bar.
  3. Collect the Moon Chest and open it. The Wise Owl pet is a 0.5% reward.
  4. Wait out the 5-minute cooldown before the event owl takes plants again, or spend 49 Robux to skip it. The requested trait changes every hour.

The craving rotates through traits like Berry, Fruit, Flower, Vegetable, Sweet, Tropical, Prickly, Woody, Leafy, and Stalky. Keep a few matching plant types ready so an hourly swap does not stall you.

Moon Chest rewards

RewardChance
Crescent Petal Seed35%
Moon Snail35%
Strange Man's Wheat Seed14.5%
Anglerfish14.5%
Luna Bloom Seed0.5%
Wise Owl (pet)0.5%

Luna Bloom Seed sits on the same 0.5% tier; it is a seed, not the pet.

Wise Owl can also drop at 0.5% from an Exotic Moon Chest or Rainbow Exotic Moon Chest (Rainbow can roll a Rainbow Wise Owl). Treat those as extra rolls if you already have the chests. There is no pity timer and no guaranteed pull after a set number of opens.

Feeding matching plants for a chest cycle also has a chance to put Moonbeam on a fruit in your garden. Nice side bonus, not required for the pet.

The grind is the same family of limited chest loops as how to get the Spooky Chest. Grow a Garden codes help if you need a quick cash or item top-up while you farm matching plants.

What the Wise Owl pet does

Wisdom's Ruler gives pets without pet mutations extra XP over time. Multiple Wise Owls do not stack this passive, so one copy is enough for that XP help.

Ruler's Wisdom occasionally copies mutations from a random fruit, and each copied mutation has a chance to land on another fruit in your garden. Think periodic mutation helper, not a button with a known percentage.

That combo is pet XP support for clean pets plus light mutation spreading. It lands in the same chase tier as pets like the Pelican and Night Horse.

Keep it fed with normal care from the Feed a Pet guide, then weigh it against the rest of the roster on the pets tier list and the full pets collection. Older Moon Egg pets use a different egg path; they are not how you get this Harvest Moon Divine Wise Owl.

FAQ

Q.

What is the Wise Owl drop chance in Grow a Garden?

0.5% from a Moon Chest. The same 0.5% chance also appears on Exotic Moon Chest and Rainbow Exotic Moon Chest (Rainbow can roll Rainbow Wise Owl).

Q.

Is the Wise Owl pet the same as the 2025 Lunar Glow Wise Owl?

No. The 2025 Lunar Glow NPC and Mythical Owl rewards are a different event. This Divine Wise Owl is a Harvest Moon Part 2 Moon Chest pet from August 2026.

Q.

Does Wisdom's Ruler stack with multiple Wise Owls?

No. The extra XP passive for pets without pet mutations does not stack if you own more than one Wise Owl.

Q.

Why won't the Harvest Moon event owl take my plants?

Either the plants do not match its current trait craving, or you are still on the 5-minute cooldown after earning a Moon Chest. Traits also rotate every hour.
