Grand Blue Pets Guide: How to Obtain All Pets

Updated on September 11, 2026 (about 6 hours ago)

If you want a Grand Blue pet without farming a rare drop, head to Clown Town with 10,000 Gold for Small Dog. Soro, Circus Lion (also called Lioni), and Chicken (also called Manok) come from combat, while Celestial Guard is tied to a rare Celestial Human roll rather than a boss.

The five entries covered here are the four conventional pets plus the Celestial Human-exclusive Celestial Guard companion. Grand Blue is still in Early Access, so reported rates, respawns, and race or ability labels can change. If your current Logbook or Character Customization prompt uses different wording, follow the live prompt for that step.

All Grand Blue Pets and How to Get Them

Use this table to choose your route before you travel. The percentages and timer are community-reported Early Access values, not developer guarantees. You may also see a four-pet list that treats Celestial Guard separately; it is included here because the route treats it as a summonable pet or companion.

Small Dog is the only route here that does not depend on a drop roll. The other conventional pets require repeated combat, and Celestial Guard requires the right race result before its ability route becomes available.

How to Get Soro in Grand Blue

Travel to Anchor Town and look around the First Marine Base or East Marine Base area. The Blonde Goblin is the useful landmark for finding the Soro encounter, so use that NPC and the surrounding town layout to orient yourself.

  1. Find the Soro encounter near the Blonde Goblin.
  2. Defeat Soro and check your inventory for the pet. The reported chance is 2%, so one victory is not a guaranteed unlock.
  3. If the live quest prompt also asks you to defeat the nearby Blonde Goblin, complete that additional objective. The nearby NPC is a landmark, so treat it as a second target only when the live prompt asks for it.

If you need to try again, use the current encounter or quest prompt rather than relying on an exact Soro respawn timer.

How to Get Circus Lion (Lioni) in Grand Blue

Circus Lion is in Clown Town's central town area, plaza, or arena. Look for the Beast Tamer to identify the right part of town, then locate the Circus Lion encounter.

Defeat Circus Lion and check your inventory for Lioni. The reported chance is 0.25%, and the target is reported to return after about 180 seconds if the pet does not drop. Treat Beast Tamer as the location landmark; defeat it as an additional target only if the current prompt explicitly asks for Beast Tamer credit.

Lioni can also function as a mount after you obtain it. If you are farming this route, stay in the Clown Town area and return to the encounter after the reported respawn instead of assuming every defeat will award the pet.

How to Get Small Dog in Grand Blue

Small Dog is the straightforward option when you want a guaranteed purchase. In Clown Town, follow the Circus Lion route toward the nearby glass-and-wood display case, where Small Dog is visibly placed.

Interact with the display case and pay 10,000 Gold. Small Dog is purchased directly, so this route does not use a reported combat-drop percentage. Once the purchase completes, check your inventory before moving on to the skill-slot step below.

How to Get Chicken (Manok) in Grand Blue

Chicken, also called Manok, is a combat drop with two reported location options. Start at the farm in Anchor Town, or use the chicken area around the farmer and Beast Wreckage in Maple Village if that route is more convenient.

Defeat the chickens in the area you choose, then repeat the farm loop when they return. The reported Chicken-pet chance is 0.5%, so neither location promises a drop on the first clear. Check your inventory for Chicken or Manok after each run and switch between the two areas if one is crowded.

How to Get Celestial Guard in Grand Blue

Celestial Guard is not a normal boss drop. Its Early Access route is tied to the Celestial Human race, which is reported at roughly 0.1%, and then to the Fragile ability.

  1. Open the Character Customization race-reroll system and spend Race Rerolls until you receive Celestial Human or the equivalent Celestial Human variant shown by the current game UI.
  2. Once that race is active, equip or use the Fragile ability. The Early Access route links Fragile to the Celestial Guard companion.
  3. Follow the current ability prompt to summon the companion, then check your available skills if it does not appear immediately.

Because the game is in Early Access, the exact relationship between the race label, the Fragile label, and the companion may change. If the live Character Customization or ability screen uses different labels, follow that prompt and avoid treating Celestial Guard like an NPC you can farm.

How to Equip and Summon Grand Blue Pets

After a normal pet enters your inventory, equip it and replace one of your skills with the pet skill. Use the hotkey assigned to that skill to summon the pet. For Celestial Guard, the relevant route is the Fragile ability attached to the Celestial Human race rather than a normal inventory drop.

If a pet is in your inventory but does not appear, check that it was equipped into a skill slot and that you are using the assigned hotkey. The inventory entry alone is not the summon action.

If you want the only no-RNG option, save 10,000 Gold for Small Dog in Clown Town. Soro, Chicken, and Lioni are reported combat chances, while Celestial Guard is the rare race route, so use the current Logbook and live ability prompt whenever the Early Access build changes.
