Mutations are special traits a caught fish can carry in Deep Fishing, and each one multiplies that fish's value. Multipliers run from Gold at 2x up to Cosmic at 15x. Gold and Diamond can show up on any catch, while the rest need a specific weather event to be running when you catch the fish.
| Mutation | Multiplier | How to get it |
|---|---|---|
| Gold | 2x | Random drop on any catch |
| Wet | 2.5x | Catch a fish during the Rain event |
| Frozen | 3.5x | Catch a fish during the Blizzard event |
| Toxic | 4x | Catch a fish during the Toxic event |
| Electro | 5x | Catch a fish during the Thunder event |
| Cursed | 6.5x | Catch a fish during the Cursed event |
| Diamond | 8x | Random drop on any catch |
| Lava | 12x | Catch a fish during the Volcano event |
| Cosmic | 15x | Catch a fish during the Cosmic event |
How to Catch Gold, Diamond, and Weather Mutations in Deep Fishing
Gold and Diamond drop at random from regular catches, and every catch gives them a chance to show up. Keep fishing as usual and check each fish you reel in, since either one can turn up at any time.
The remaining mutations are tied to weather. Each one belongs to its own event, and a fish only picks up that mutation if you catch it while the matching event is running. That makes the timing of the catch more important than how long you've been fishing.
Each event runs for a limited time, so check what weather is active when you join. When the event you need is running, that's your window. If it isn't, keep fishing for the random mutations until it comes around.
Using the Mutation Dealer to Reroll Your Fish
The Mutation Dealer lets you reroll the mutation on a fish you already own, so you can try for a different mutation without waiting on the weather. You'll find the Dealer next to the Group Chest on the starter island.
- Equip the fish you want to reroll.
- Walk to the Mutation Dealer with the fish still equipped.
- Talk to the Dealer and open Dealer Spin.
- Spin. Each Dealer Spin uses one Mutation Reroll, which you earn by fishing.
Rerolling can replace the fish's current mutation, and the new one can be higher or lower. The result can also be none, which leaves the fish without a mutation. A fish carries one mutation at a time, so a spin on a strong fish can leave it weaker. The roll covers the weather mutations too, so the Dealer is a route to them as well as to Gold and Diamond.
Ultra Rerolls, which you can buy with Robux, improve your chances of landing a mutation. Save them for fish that already have a high base value, since that's where a better mutation adds the most.

Selling or Keeping Mutated Fish in Your Pond
A mutated fish pays you in two ways. Selling it gives you the sale price once, while keeping it in your Pond keeps paying out for as long as it stays there. The mutation multiplier raises both, so the better choice depends on how much the fish is worth on its own.
Base value is the key part. A mutation multiplies what the fish is already worth, so a 4x mutation on a valuable fish adds far more than the same 4x on a cheap one. The same is true of Pond income, so a high-value fish earns more while it sits in your Pond than a low-value fish with the same mutation.
To decide, compare the two. Sell when you need coins right away, such as for an upgrade you can't yet afford. Keep the fish when you expect to play long enough for its Pond income to add up to more than its sale price. If you have several mutated fish, keep the ones that earn the most in your Pond and sell the rest.
