Every chest type in 100 Days at Sea and what they drop

Updated on August 11, 2026 (about 1 hour ago)

Chests are a main progression loop in 100 Days at Sea. You open them for boats, weapons, armor, Doubloons, and boss gear while you sail.

These are world loot chests you find during a run. They are not the Pearl Companion Shop pet chests (Fishermans, Warrior, Ice, Pirate, Magma, and the rest). Pearl chests buy companions. World chests drop run loot. The companion tier list covers the shop side.

Group world chests three ways so you know what you are opening: Doubloon Chests, fixed-reward chests, and variable-loot chests.

Fixed-reward chests worth sailing for

Some chests pay a known item once you clear the island, ship, or boss that locks them. These are the stops people plan routes around.

StopChest / routeWhat you get
Fisherman IslandFree early boat stop after rescueDinghy on the island path (hut after rescue; island chests often show up here too)
Oil RigsPurple Chest after a clearContainer blueprints (Container Shelter, Makeshift Building, or Outpost by rig size) plus Doubloon-related loot
Pirate StrongholdGreen chest after the pirate clearGhost Cutlass and Galleon Bell
Ghost GalleonGreen chestBoomstick on the first open; Galleon boat on later or related opens
Ice boss pathYeti reward chestIce Staff
Volcano pathLord of Lava / Magma route chestMagma Staff
Corrupter pathBoss reward chestCorrupter reward route includes Void Slicer
Mushroom Treasure IslandPurple chestRiptide

Rewards are location-tied. A purple chest on an Oil Rig is not the same pool as a purple chest on a Treasure Island. Cutlass, staff, and gun routes live on the weapons collection. Ship drops sit with boats, boss paths with bosses, and the POI map with islands.

Doubloon chests, variable loot, and where chests spawn

Doubloon Chests hold currency for shops. Guides report you can store them in your sack and open them later, and that opening consumes the chest for one claimer. Spend Doubloons at MukuMuku and the Traveling Merchant.

Oil Rigs are the dense Doubloon stop. Guides report Small, Big, and Huge rigs holding about 2, 6, and 7 Doubloon Chests plus a Purple Chest. Guides also report a typical Doubloon Chest near ~15 Doubloons, with weaker Doubloon Chests inside Oil Rig purple layouts closer to ~7-8. Treat those numbers as reported targets, not hard law.

Variable-loot chests fill the rest of the map. Mini islands, general island chests, container-style chests, and floating ocean chests roll gear and materials instead of one fixed headline item. Container structures lean harder toward armor and weapon upgrades, which is why many armor pieces and guns list chests as a source.

Where chests show up most often:

  • Islands and mini islands
  • Oil Rigs
  • Treasure Islands
  • Pirate Stronghold and Ghost Galleon
  • Cargo Ship and corrupted spots
  • Fisherman Island
  • Floating ocean chests

Some only open after a rescue, treasure task, pirate clear, or boss kill. Scoop mini-island and ocean chests between big objectives so travel time still pays.

Opening lots of chests also feeds badges: Plunderer (100 chests in one run), Money Marauder (500 across runs), and Firepower (a gun from a chest).

Chest hunting feeds the same long-run loop as how to farm food, materials, and coins and the best strategies to survive 100 Days at Sea. Early 100 Days at Sea codes can pad materials before you commit to longer sails.

FAQ

Q.

Are Companion Shop chests the same as island chests in 100 Days at Sea?

No. Companion Shop chests cost Pearls and give pets. Island, ship, boss, and ocean chests are world loot for boats, weapons, armor, Doubloons, and materials during a run.

Q.

Where should you farm Doubloon Chests?

Oil Rigs are the densest Doubloon Chest stops. Guides report more chests on larger rigs, plus a Purple Chest with container blueprints. Spend Doubloons at MukuMuku and the Traveling Merchant.

Q.

Is Void Slicer guaranteed from the Corrupter?

Treat Void Slicer as part of the Corrupter reward route rather than a hard 100% claim. Clear the boss and open the reward chest; drop wording still differs between player reports.

Q.

Do all purple chests drop the same items?

No. Purple chest rewards depend on the location. Oil Rig purple chests lean toward container blueprints and Doubloon-related loot, while a mushroom Treasure Island purple chest is the fixed Riptide stop.

I track new Roblox codes across social platforms and update them on Bloxodes as soon as they drop.
