If you reach the Shipwreck Region's center and find a force field blocking the way, you haven't missed a hidden switch. The barrier stays up until you solve one puzzle on each of the five islands, carry each Crystal Skull to its island pedestal, and charge all five skulls to 100%.
This guide takes you through the region's puzzle types, the lighthouse ritual, the Lich King fight, and the rewards waiting in the boss area. The island layout can change between runs, so use each island's puzzle type and its lighthouse or pedestal as your landmarks instead of trying to follow a fixed route.
How to Find the Shipwreck Region in 100 Days at Sea
The Shipwreck Region is randomly generated and may not appear in every run. When it does appear, look for five Shipwreck Islands arranged around a central force field, with lighthouse beams pointing toward the blocked center. That combination is the clearest sign that you have found the event area.
There is no fixed island order to memorize. Sail between the islands in whatever order your run presents them, identify each objective by its puzzle, and bring a shovel for the digging island. A ranged weapon, enough ammunition, and ordinary survival supplies will also make the repeated Skeleton waves and final fight easier to manage. All 5 Crystal Skull Puzzles in the 100 Days at Sea Shipwreck Region
Each island has one Crystal Skull puzzle. Finish the local objective to make that island's skull chest available, then collect the skull. The chest objective is different on every island, but the completion signal is consistent: the skull becomes available after the puzzle is done.
Digging Puzzle: Find the Crystal Skull Chest
Equip your shovel and inspect the marked digging spots on the island. Dig at each marked location until you uncover the chest containing the Crystal Skull. The correct chest position can vary, and enemies may spawn while you search, so deal with them before returning to the marked spots.
The digging puzzle is complete when the skull chest has been uncovered. Pick up the skull and keep it for the pedestal step below.
Lantern Puzzle: Extinguish Every Light
Search the shipwrecks and boats around the island for lanterns. Interact with every lantern to extinguish it, checking the full island rather than stopping after the first few. The number of lanterns can vary, so the useful completion check is that no required lantern remains lit.
Once all the lanterns are out, the island's skull chamber or chest becomes available. Collect the Crystal Skull before moving on.
Grave Symbol Puzzle: Activate the Correct Order
Start at the locked door and read the symbols shown on it. Then look for graves marked with those same symbols and activate the matching graves in the order displayed on the door. The sequence is randomized for each run, so the symbols on your door, not a memorized list, determine the correct order.
When the final grave is activated correctly, the door opens and leads to the Crystal Skull chest.
Flag-Raising Puzzle: Activate Every Flag
Find the flagpoles around the island and hold E when the raise prompt appears. Raise every flag to finish the objective. Skeletons can spawn while you are holding the interaction, so interrupt the animation and fight if you are attacked, then return to the same flagpole.
The skull chest becomes available after all the flags have been raised.
Ship-Cannon Puzzle: Destroy the Marked Ships
Use the cannons on the island to target the nearby ships. Aim at the circular marks on the ships and destroy every marked target. Keep checking the water around the island until all of the highlighted ships have been destroyed.
After the last marked ship is destroyed, the Crystal Skull chest unlocks or spawns on the island.
Solving a puzzle and collecting its skull does not turn off that island's lighthouse yet. You still need to place the skull on the pedestal at the center of the same island and survive the charge ritual.
How to Charge Crystal Skulls and Lower the Shipwreck Region Barrier
Return to the center of each completed island and place its recovered Crystal Skull on the pedestal. This starts Skeleton waves and fills a visible charge bar as you defeat them. Stay in the encounter until the bar reaches 100%; a skull that is only collected, or only placed without reaching full charge, does not complete the island.
A fully charged skull disables the lighthouse on that island. Repeat the pedestal and Skeleton-wave step for all five islands. If a beam is still shining toward the center, revisit that island and check that its skull is on the pedestal and its charge bar reached 100%.
When the fifth skull is fully charged, all five lighthouse beams turn off and the central force field disappears. The game reports, The Forcefield is Lifted, the Lich King Awaits. That message is your signal to head into the middle.
How to Summon and Defeat the Lich King in 100 Days at Sea
Enter the central arena through its main door after the force field drops. The hanging chains around the arena are part of the scene, not a separate objective you need to activate. Walking through the main entrance is enough to trigger the Lich King encounter.
Community guides report roughly 4,000 HP for the boss, so treat that number as an estimate rather than a fixed official stat. The reported hazards are Skeleton adds and lightning attacks. Use consistent ranged damage while keeping enough distance to see incoming threats, save stamina for dodging, and stop attacking long enough to prevent the adds from surrounding you.
Once the Lich King is down, stay in the area long enough to collect the completion rewards instead of sailing away immediately.
100 Days at Sea Shipwreck Region Rewards
Defeating the Lich King awards the official Death to the Dead! badge, whose condition is to defeat the Lich King. The post-kill chest inside the boss island is also reported to contain a Corrupt Shard and a Necromancer Staff. The Corrupt Shard and Necromancer Staff are reported chest rewards, but no official loot table or drop rate is listed.
If your run is still in progress, check the five beams and each island's pedestal before leaving: every skull needs a full charge. If the Lich King has already been defeated, open the chest inside the boss island to finish the route and collect the reported rewards.
