In Little Witch in the Woods, you play Ellie, an apprentice witch who brews potions and candy. Many of those recipes call for plants and ingredients gathered from around the map, like flowers and herbs, and Ellie eats the wild foods she finds to restore energy. Knowing where each plant grows and how to collect it is the first step toward brewing anything useful.

Where to Find Plants in Little Witch in the Woods

Plants stay put. Each one is a fixed shrub or flower in a specific part of the map, so once you find a patch, you can return to it whenever you need more. The Green Forest has several areas, and each one has its own plants, so it's worth exploring all of them.

Time of day matters too. Some plants only appear after dark, while others turn up at any hour, so check each area in both day and night before you move on.

How to Gather Plants with Gloves, Nets and Trowels

Most plants are picked with gloves, including Witchflower, Maple Herb and Little Mandrake. Plants that give off pollen need a net instead, and Silver Starbell is the one to plan around. Its pollen can only be collected at night, so plan that trip for after dark. A trowel is the third tool, for plants that gloves and a net can't handle.

Little Mandrake comes with a catch. Pulling one up makes it scream, which leaves you dazed. An Earmuff Potion keeps the screech from reaching you, which makes the whole job much easier.

How Plants Are Processed in the Extractor, Roaster and Mixer

Plants don't go straight into recipes. Their harvests go through one of three machines first: the Extractor, the Roaster or the Mixer. The Extractor turns many plants into extracts, and a lot of potions and candies call for those.

The Extractor needs repairing before you can use it, which is one of the first jobs in the game. The Roaster makes roasted ingredients, and it's the one you'll reach for whenever a recipe calls for a roast.

Which Plants Matter Most for Potions and Candy

Witchflower and Maple Herb come up the most. Both go into Healing Candy and the Sunlight Potion, and Witchflower also goes into the Weed Extermination Potion. Maple Herb is dried in the Roaster first, and it is part of the Nutrition Potion too.

Little Mandrake matters for a different reason. It's roasted in the Roaster as Little Mandrake Roast, and that roast goes into the Firecracker Potion.

Recording Plants in the Witch's Encyclopedia

The Witch's Encyclopedia is where Ellie records what she finds, plants included. To record one, equip your quill and approach it. Recording only unlocks after you visit the Shining Tree at the top of the mountain, so it's worth making that trip early.

Wild Foods That Restore Energy

Wild foods are their own group, separate from the plants. Ellie eats them to restore energy, so they're useful when you're running low while out exploring. Keep a few on hand for longer trips, since the energy they give back lets you keep gathering.
