Ride A Pet food gives your pets EXP and helps them progress toward higher levels and Ages, but the most expensive item is not always the best choice. The Food Shop has limited stock, and a pet sitting only in your hotbar cannot be fed.
This guide compares all five foods, shows where to buy them in the central hub, and walks through the ranch or mounted interaction that makes a pet eligible to eat.
All Food Items in Ride A Pet
Each row below shows the food's rarity, Cash price, and EXP gained from one item.
| Food | Rarity | Cash price | EXP per item | Item |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Grass | Rare | 10 Cash | +500 EXP | ![]() |
| Bone | Epic | 1,500 Cash | +10,000 EXP | ![]() |
| Meat | Legendary | 30,000 Cash | +100,000 EXP | ![]() |
| Magic Apple | Mythic | 7,000,000 Cash | +300,000 EXP | ![]() |
| Dragonfruit | Ethereal | 30,000,000 Cash | +1,000,000 EXP | ![]() |
Grass is the budget option because it costs very little for gradual EXP gains. Dragonfruit gives the largest single boost, but its 30,000,000 Cash price makes it a choice for a well-funded keeper pet rather than a default purchase. Meat is listed at +100,000 EXP here; if the live item card in your Food Shop shows a different amount, use the in-game display.
How to Get Food in Ride A Pet
All five foods come from the Food Shop in the central hub, near your base and the Track station. Look for the red-and-white stall with the in-game Food sign. The Ride A Pet locations guide can also help you orient yourself around the hub.

- Walk to the Food Shop near the base or Track station.
- Interact with the shop NPC to open the Food menu.
- Choose a food that is currently in stock and spend the listed amount of Cash. The purchased item stays in your inventory until you use it.
- If the food you want is missing, wait for the shop's free refresh and check the menu again. Stock is limited, and the refresh takes about 2 minutes and 45 seconds.

The menu shows which item is available, its price, and the shop's restock information. Check that card before spending Cash instead of planning around an exact stock count, since the available selection can change.
How to Feed Pets in Ride A Pet
Buying food is only the first part. The target pet must be selected and in an eligible state before the feed interaction will work.
- Select the food from your inventory and choose the pet you want to develop.
- Place the pet in the ranch at your base or mount it for a ride. A pet that is only in your hotbar cannot receive food.
- With the food selected, approach the eligible pet and use the game's interaction prompt to feed it. Device controls can vary, so use the available interaction rather than relying on an unverified keybind.
- Confirm that the food's listed EXP has been applied. The pet then progresses toward a higher level or Age.
If the game will not let you feed the pet, check its state first. Moving it from the hotbar into the ranch or mounting it is the documented eligibility step, not buying another copy of the food.
Which Food Should You Use in Ride A Pet?
Choose the food based on the pet you plan to keep, your Cash, and whether you want efficient gradual progress or a larger single boost.
Grass for low-cost leveling
Grass is the practical default when Cash is limited or you want to feed a pet in small, repeatable steps. At 10 Cash for +500 EXP, it provides the strongest EXP return for its price in the table, even though each individual feed is small.
Bone and Meat for larger mid-cost boosts
Bone and Meat sit between Grass and the high-cost fruit items. They cost more per purchase but deliver +10,000 and +100,000 EXP respectively, so they can shorten the number of feeding interactions when you can afford the extra Cash.
Magic Apple and Dragonfruit for big single feeds
Magic Apple and Dragonfruit are useful when you have a large Cash reserve and want a substantial amount of EXP at once. Magic Apple gives +300,000 EXP for 7,000,000 Cash, while Dragonfruit gives +1,000,000 EXP for 30,000,000 Cash. The larger number is not automatically better value, so save these for a keeper pet and buy them only when the cost fits your plan.
Pick the pet first, then buy whichever in-stock food matches your budget and goal. If the shop does not have the right item, wait for the free refresh rather than spending Cash blindly; once the pet is in the ranch or mounted, the selected food can provide its listed EXP.
