No. Grand Theft Auto VI has no multiplayer modes at launch, so you play it alone. Rockstar Games describes it as a single-player experience, due in November on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and it hasn't announced an online mode for the game.
What Rockstar Has Said About GTA 6 Multiplayer
Rockstar's own wording is the clearest answer. When it announced pre-orders, the company said Grand Theft Auto VI "is a single player experience," and the same phrasing appears across its launch messaging. PlayStation's marketing for the PS5 version uses the same idea, calling it a "deeply engaging single-player experience."

The store listings match. The PlayStation Store answers the question "Does Grand Theft Auto VI have any multiplayer modes or features?" with "Grand Theft Auto VI is a single-player experience," and the game is tagged "1 player" with offline play enabled. The Xbox Store lists it with a single-player tag only. Taken together, these statements leave no online mode in the launch version.
What Has Not Been Announced for a GTA 6 Online Mode
Rockstar hasn't announced an online mode for GTA VI, so there are no official details about one. Nothing has been confirmed about:
- A name for the mode
- A release date or window
- Pricing
- Which platforms it would support
- Cross-play, which means playing with friends on other systems
- Whether progress would carry over
- How it would connect to the existing GTA Online
Not announcing something isn't the same as ruling it out. Rockstar hasn't said an online mode is coming, and it hasn't said one is off the table either. Because no release window has been given, any date you see for a GTA VI online mode isn't official.
GTA Online and GTA+ While You Wait for GTA 6
GTA Online is the online mode for Grand Theft Auto V. Rockstar describes GTA+ as an optional monthly premium membership for GTA Online, with rotating benefits and a rotating games library.

GTA+ benefits can be used in Grand Theft Auto V or Grand Theft Auto Online on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and in Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced on PC, subject to platform and store terms. Digital pre-orders for GTA VI include a free month of GTA+, which is instantly redeemable. That lets you jump into Grand Theft Auto V and other classic Rockstar titles, but it doesn't add multiplayer to GTA VI.
How GTA Online and Red Dead Online Arrived After Launch
Rockstar has added online modes after its games came out before. Grand Theft Auto Online launched about two weeks after Grand Theft Auto V, and it was free with a retail copy of the game. Red Dead Online arrived about a month after Red Dead Redemption 2, first as a public beta that started with owners of the Ultimate Edition and then rolled out to other players over the next few days.
Those launches set a pattern, but not a timeline. They show that Rockstar has added online modes after release before, and they don't say when or whether GTA VI will get one.
