Purgatorial is a limited mutation in Fisch, the Roblox fishing game, that multiplies a fish's C$ selling value by 11.2x. The only way to get it is with the Black Fairy Rod, which you unlock by finishing Draven's questline at the Underground Music Venue. Once you have the rod, each catch has a chance to roll Purgatorial, and a few steps can raise those odds.

How to Start Draven's Black Fairy Questline in Fisch
The Black Fairy Rod is locked behind a questline, so that's where you begin. Head to the Underground Music Venue in Fisch and talk to Draven. When he gives you the choice, pick "I'll help you find it," which starts the questline that ends with the rod.
Draven speaks in riddles, and you'll need to solve them before you can finish each step. The questline is split into five named sets, and you work through them in this order:
- Where Roots Dream
- Voices From Afar
- Lights For The Lost
- A Letter Left Behind
- The Great Blade
Finish All Five Quest Sets and Pay C$53,000,000 for the Black Fairy Rod
Each set has its own riddles, and every riddle asks for a catch or an item. The first set, Where Roots Dream, includes a Translucent Rotwood Perch and a Rotting Gem Blobfish, while Voices From Afar asks for a run of abyssal fish. Some steps ask for a specific variant, such as a Shiny or Sparkling fish, so those catches can take more time than the rest.
The last step is a payment. Draven needs C$53,000,000 before the Black Fairy Rod can be claimed, so save that money before you reach the end of the questline. Saving ahead means you won't stall at the final step. Once you complete it, you're taken to a foggy path. Walk through the fog to claim the rod.
Fish With the Black Fairy Rod for the Base Purgatorial Chance
Equip the Black Fairy Rod and fish as you normally would. Every normal catch gives the rod a 20% base chance to apply Purgatorial, so the mutation comes from steady fishing rather than one special trick.

Since the mutation can't be added through appraisal, there's no shortcut around the rod. Every Purgatorial fish comes from a catch made with it.

Hit the Center of Soul Judgement to Raise the Chance to 33%
Soul Judgement is a passive that appears during a catch with the Black Fairy Rod. When it shows up, hit the center of the mechanic. A center hit raises the Purgatorial chance for that catch from 20% to 33%, an extra 13 percentage points.
The same center hit also gives the catch two other bonuses:
- +55% progress
- A 4-second stun on the fish
The Purgatorial boost only applies to the catch you're on, so each activation is its own chance to improve that catch. If you miss the center, that catch stays at the 20% base chance.
Sell Purgatorial Fish for the Full 11.2x Multiplier
Purgatorial multiplies a fish's C$ selling value by 11.2x, so the payoff comes when you sell. Hold on to your Purgatorial catches until you're ready to sell them. The multiplier applies to the fish's selling value, so the sale is where you collect it.
Because the multiplier is fixed, the species you catch matters. A fish that normally sells for more gives you a bigger sale after the 11.2x, so use the rod in places where expensive fish show up.
How the Black Fairy Rod's Soul Passive Adds to Your Earnings
The Soul passive works separately from the mutation roll. Each time you reel in a fish, the Black Fairy Rod has a 45% chance to release 1 to 4 Souls. Each Soul pays out 25% of that fish's C$ value.
A Purgatorial fish works differently. It always releases 4 Souls, so a Purgatorial catch brings in the four-Soul payout along with the 11.2x selling multiplier. Because the Soul chance applies to any catch, the rod can pay you during a normal hunt.
