- Gather your bait. Collect enough Glowworm Bait from Bug Trees, your Personal Aquarium, or with the Tropical Toucan's help before you start fishing.
- Equip Glowworm Bait on your fishing rod. This is the step that applies the mutation to what you catch.
- Fish for your target species. Keep the bait equipped while you fish for the species you're after.
Because the bait is so reliable, spend it on fish with high base values. The 8x multiplier pays off most on fish that already sell for a lot, so save the bait for those rather than using it on cheap catches.
Using the Noctone Rod If You Own It
The Noctone Rod applies Glowy to caught fish at a 40% chance. That's lower than the bait's guarantee, so think of it as a backup route rather than the main one.
The rod replaced the Axe of Rhoads and went to players who owned the Axe right after the 1.59.0 update. You can't get it through normal play, so this route only applies to players who received the rod. If you have it, equip it and fish as usual. If you don't, use the bait or the admin event instead.
Catching Glowy Fish During the HEAVENLY SPARKLES Event
HEAVENLY SPARKLES is an admin event, so an in-game administrator has to start it. Players can't summon it themselves. Admin events are special weather events with their own fish and mutations, and this one can give you Glowy while it runs.
Keep an eye on server announcements, and be fishing while it's active. Because you don't control when it happens, it's hard to plan around the way you can with bait.
