An XL plate can soak up more damage than a small one, but it's wasted if your Body Sleeve has no XL slot to hold it. Work out what your sleeve takes, then compare what each piece stops, how long it lasts and what it weighs.

Check Your Body Sleeve Before You Pick a Plate
Every plate fits an S, L or XL slot. Your Body Sleeve sets which body parts get a slot and what size each one takes, and a plate protects only the body part where it sits. Helmets cover the head.
Ceramic, Titan, Steel, Rusty or UHMWPE: What Each Plate Trades
Ceramic stops the most bullets at every size, but it's the heaviest plate and the least durable one in its size. Titan gives up some bullet protection for the most durability and a lighter carry. UHMWPE is the lightest and stops the least. Steel and rusty plates sit between them on bullets, so compare their melee and blast values too.
Why Bullet Protection Drops as Armor Takes Hits
Bullet protection is a range from empty to full durability, so a battered piece protects less than a fresh one. Melee, blast, collision and fire protection are shown at full durability.
Which Helmets Have Active Headsets
The TFMK-I, the Enhanced EDH-Gen V and the Tactical headset all have built-in noise-cancelling headphones. They dampen loud sounds like gunfire and explosions and make the footsteps of nearby enemies easier to hear. The TFMK-I is the sturdiest of the three, and the EDH-Gen V gives you a headset with less weight than the TFMK-I.
Where Each Helmet and Plate Comes From
Plates come from loot crates, the Replicator, shops and some objectives. Some helmets also show up on Turned Soldiers during a specific event, and some Replicator recipes only unlock after an investigation. Check the acquisition line before you build around a rare piece.
FAQ
Do you lose your armor when you die in a raid?
Yes. You lose carried equipment when you die, including helmets and armor plates. Personal items and gear stored in a safe container are exceptions, so choose a loadout you can afford to lose.
Can every helmet take a night vision device?
No. The Tactical PASGT can take one, but the regular PASGT can't, so check which model you're wearing before a night raid.
