All 36 Mutations in Storage Hunters: Open World

Updated on (5 days ago)

Mutations are the modifier roll on Storage Hunters loot: the same item can come out of a container plain, Gold at four times the value, or Dirty at eighty percent of it. Since the multiplier applies to whatever the item was already worth, mutations are the difference between a good pull and a screenshot-worthy one.

How multipliers work

A mutated item's value is its base value times the mutation's multiplier, plainly listed on each card. The spread is wide: Dirty actually cuts value to 0.8x, the everyday tier doubles it, and the top of the table multiplies far past that. Families group the mutations by origin, with the standard set always in play and special families tied to their sources.

Playing the mutation game

The practical rule: multipliers matter most on items that were already valuable, since x4 on junk is still junk. When sorting a container, check mutated items against their base values before selling anything, and treat high-multiplier pulls on high-value items as the vault-worthy events they are.

FAQ

Q.

How do mutations work in Storage Hunters?

A mutation multiplies an item's base value by its listed multiplier, from Dirty's value-cutting 0.8x through Gold's 4x and beyond. The multiplier applies to whatever the item was already worth.

Q.

Are any mutations bad?

Dirty is the famous one: at 0.8x it makes an item worth less than its clean version. Everything else lifts value to some degree.

Q.

What is the best mutation?

The top of the multiplier table, listed on the cards. But the real jackpots come from pairing any high multiplier with an item whose base value was already large.
