Your base in Steal a Brainrot is more than a wall and a lock timer: it is the one thing every visitor sees before they try to rob you. Base skins reskin the whole building, and almost all of them are earned by filling indexes, the game's collection log of owned brainrots. That makes skins the closest thing the game has to trophies: each one tells visiting players exactly what you finished to earn it.

How base skins unlock
Most skins come from indexes. Register enough brainrots of the right kind (a mutation family, an event roster) and the matching skin unlocks, usually alongside a cash multiplier. Once earned, a skin is yours forever and can be swapped anytime in the game settings, so there is no cost to switching looks.
The requirement thresholds have drifted friendlier over time: early mutation bases demanded 100 percent of their index, later seasons dropped to 75 and then 60 percent. The card chips show each skin's exact target.
Which skins to chase first
- The classic Gold, Diamond, and Rainbow bases are the natural first goals: 75 percent indexes you fill through normal play, each paying a 0.5x multiplier on completion.
- Mutation bases are long grinds tied to their season's mutation. They stay earnable after their season, so there is no deadline pressure, just a big index.
- Seasonal bases are the true limiteds. Their indexes only count during their events, and the purchasable ones (Gingerbread, Rose, Pot of Gold, Bunny Basket, Red Octo) left when their events did.
- OG bases skip indexes entirely: house the right OG brainrot (a Skibidi Toilet, John Pork, and friends) and the skin activates. The skin is free; the brainrot is the expensive part.
Skins you cannot earn
The admin bases belong to the developer's admin abuse events. They show up on the map as stealable loot pinatas during those events, but they never join player inventories, with the exception of the Tralalero Base, which was handed out through admin event codes. They are documented here because you will see them in game and wonder.
FAQ
How do you change your base skin in Steal a Brainrot?
Open the game settings and pick any skin you own. Unlocked skins are permanent, and switching between them is free and instant.
What is the easiest base skin to get?
After the free Default, the classic Gold, Diamond, and Rainbow bases are the most reachable: each needs 75 percent of its mutation index, which fills through normal collecting, and each also grants a 0.5x cash multiplier.
Can you still get mutation base skins after their season ends?
Yes. Past mutation bases stayed earnable after their seasons, so you can work on any mutation index at your own pace. The newest season's base is the usual exception until its season settles.
Are base skins tradable?
Seasonal bases became tradable with the trading update, which is the only way to get one whose event you missed. Mutation bases are untradeable, so those indexes have to be earned on your own account.
How do OG base skins work?
Keep the matching OG brainrot in your base, like a Skibidi Toilet for the Skibidi base, and the skin unlocks. The catch is owning the brainrot: OG brainrots are among the rarest and most expensive trades in the game.
