Relics are special items in Rogue Legacy 2 that change how your hero plays during a run. One might boost your damage, another might give you extra mana, and some grant new abilities altogether. Each one costs part of your Resolve to equip, so every pick is a trade-off. Knowing what relics do and where they come from will help you build a stronger run.

What Are Relics in Rogue Legacy 2?
Relics are unique items that reshape the way a run plays out. Some give you stat boosts, like more damage or more health. Others complete a special challenge or give your hero a brand-new ability.
The effects vary a lot, and that's the point. One relic leaves a poison cloud behind after a few dashes, while another makes enemies more likely to drop health when you defeat them. Because every relic bends the rules a little, two runs with the same hero can feel completely different. If you played the first Rogue Legacy, relics take the place of its shrine items, though you'll find many more of them.
How Relics Work and What They Cost
Every relic has a Resolve cost, and equipping it uses up part of your Resolve. Resolve is the percentage shown in the top-left corner of the screen, and each relic has its own price. Once your Resolve drops below 100 percent, your maximum health goes down, so taking too many relics can leave your hero fragile.
That cost is the real trade-off. The strongest relics often take the most Resolve, so you have to decide whether the boost is worth the health you give up. Castle upgrades can raise your Resolve and lower relic costs, which gives you more room to carry relics before your maximum health starts to shrink.
How to Get Relics in Rogue Legacy 2
Some heroes start a run with relics already equipped, and you can see them on the stat screen before you pick a hero. The other common source is Arcane Chambers, which turn up now and then while you explore the Kingdom. Each one offers two relics, and you keep only one of them, which takes effect right away and uses up its Resolve cost.
Some relics sit in special rooms out in the world, and you may need a certain ability to reach them. The Lily of the Valley relics in the Kerguelen Plateau are a good example. Three of them appear there, and you need two to open the door to Estuary Naamah.
Rerolling gives you another look at what's on offer. Medieval Forgery, a castle upgrade, lets you reroll relics and Curio Shoppe items you find in the Kingdom, with one extra reroll for each rank. Bizarre Bazaar is another castle upgrade, and it lets you reroll several times in the same spot, also growing with each rank.
How the Curio Shoppe Gives Blessing Relics
A Curio Shoppe is a special room you come across while exploring. It offers a single item, which is a weapon, a talent, or a spell, and you can trade your current one for it.
Every swap also gives you a free blessing relic. Blessings are a special group of three, named Strength, Wisdom and Talent, and you can only get them through these swaps. Strength, for example, adds weapon damage, so each copy you collect builds on the last.
The trade is a real choice, since you give up the item you're carrying. It's worth asking whether the new item is a clear step up. The blessing comes with the swap either way.
Which Relics Are Worth Taking
The best relic depends on your hero and how you fight, but a few come up again and again as strong picks. Coeus' Shell is a favorite for safety, since it cancels the next hit you'd take after every six kills. Serrated Handle's Bargain works the other way. It doubles most of the damage you deal, but you take double damage for the rest of the run, so it suits heroes with strong defenses or long-range attacks.
War Drum is another common pick, since several other relics get stronger when you have it. Hyperion's Ring can save you once by reviving you at half health, but it's one of the most expensive relics to equip. Amaterasu's Sun sets enemies on fire with your weapon, and its cost is also high, so it fits slower, single-hit heroes best.
Before you spend Resolve on any relic, check how it fits with your weapon, spells and talents. A cheap relic that matches your style is often a better pick than a costly one that doesn't.
FAQ
Do relics stay with you after you die?
No. Every relic you're carrying is lost when your hero dies, so each run starts over.
Can you stack the same relic?
Yes. Many relics can be picked up more than once, and each extra copy strengthens the effect, which is why the Curio Shoppe blessings add up over a long run.
Are heirlooms the same as relics?
No. Heirlooms are separate artifacts you earn from challenge chambers in each region of the Kingdom, and some unlock abilities you need to reach certain areas.
