Build around the pet's job
Match each charm to what the pet actually does. Coin and Diamond Charms suit focused currency farming, while Strength raises direct damage and Criticals, TNT, or Lightning add triggered effects against breakables. Royalty mixes several bonuses in one slot when you want a broad upgrade instead of one narrow boost.
Glittering works differently from a normal percentage bonus because it creates diamonds on a timer while the pet stays active. Extra copies have diminishing returns after the second, so filling every slot with Glittering is not a shortcut to endless diamonds.
Levels create room for a better loadout
Eligible pets unlock more charm slots as they level. XP Charm can speed that progress while the pet can still gain levels, but its job is finished once leveling no longer helps. Plan the later slots around the pet's long-term role instead of engraving whatever happens to be in your inventory.
Overload adds extra capacity, can only be used once on a pet, and occupies a slot itself. The practical gain is one additional usable slot, which makes it a long-term loadout decision rather than a free bundle of space.
Choose the removal tool before you commit
Charms remain attached after engraving until you use a removal item. Charm Hammer clears the slot and destroys the charm. Charm Chisel returns the charm to your inventory, so save a Chisel for anything you would be annoyed to lose. Tiny tool, large regret prevention.
