Lethal Company is a co-op horror game for up to four players. You work for the Company by collecting scrap on abandoned moons and selling it, and the creatures living there make every trip risky. Some hunt by sight or sound, some steal your loot, and others simply wander, so knowing how each one behaves can save your run. Players scan each creature to add it to the ship's Bestiary.

What Creatures Are in Lethal Company
Creatures are the wildlife and monsters you run into on the moons you visit. They are the main danger in any run, since one bad encounter can cost you your loot or your life. Not all of them are a threat, though, and knowing which ones you can ignore saves a lot of panic.
The creatures are sorted into indoor, outdoor and daytime groups. Where you meet one tells you a lot about how it acts. The groups overlap, since a creature can live outdoors and only show up in daylight.
Indoor, Outdoor and Daytime Creatures
Indoor creatures live inside facilities and dungeons, and many of them move through the ventilation shafts too, so a quiet vent can hide a threat. Some are fast and aggressive, some lurk out of sight, and others mostly want your loot.
The Cadaver Bloom is a different kind of problem. It is a plant that spreads through facilities, and its spores infect employees, who can later turn into Blooms themselves. Standing close to it is toxic, so keep your distance.
Outdoor creatures roam open ground and forests, and many of them come in groups. Eyeless Dogs lunge at you and pull nearby dogs into the chase, and Baboon Hawks hunt as a pack. Forest moons have their own set too, including the Feiopar, which hides among the trees and pounces when you get too close, even if you're watching it. Circuit Bees guard their hives and attack once you come near, so leave the hive alone unless you're ready for a fight.
Not every outdoor creature waits for night. The harmless Manticoil and Roaming Locust are out during the day, and a few others roam in daylight too. The chance of meeting something dangerous rises as the day goes on, so the longer you stay out, the more risk you take on.
How Creatures Notice and Hunt You
Most creatures react to one of three things: what they see, what they hear, or what you carry. Once you know the trigger, you can plan around it instead of just reacting.
Sight matters most with some of the scariest ones. Bracken backs off if you glance at it, but a long stare makes it come for you. Coil-Head only moves while you aren't looking at it, so keep it in the corner of your eye as you back away rather than turning your back on it.
Sound and movement matter too. Eyeless Dogs hunt by sound, so crouching and staying quiet is the first thing to try. Forest Keepers react to movement, and how you move changes how easily they spot you.
Items are the third trigger. Hoarding Bugs haul loot back to their nests, so scrap left lying around can disappear.
How to Survive a Creature Encounter
Most creatures are easier to avoid than to fight, and some of the worst will punish you for starting a fight. Bunker Spiders hit hard and can chase you for a long time, for example. Before you head deeper into a facility, find the nearest exit so you aren't searching for it while something is on your heels.
Pay attention to the layout when you run. Thumpers chase you through long corridors, and making several turns can break their line of sight. Long straight halls give fast chasers a clear run at you, so take a turn when you can.
Gear helps a bit. A shovel can clear small pests like Snare Fleas and Hoarding Bugs in a handful of hits, but most of the big threats are better left alone. If something chases you while you're carrying heavy loot, drop it and run. Losing some scrap is far better than dying.
The Most Dangerous Creatures
Forest Keeper, Coil-Head and Bracken are among the deadliest creatures, since a single mistake around any of them can end a run. That is why they're worth learning first. Coil-Head is the clearest case, because it only moves while you aren't looking at it, so a moment of looking away can put it right behind you.
Jester and Ghost Girl are a different kind of danger, because they keep coming after you. Once Jester starts chasing, you can't outrun it, so you need to be clear of it before it starts. Ghost Girl can follow you anywhere on the moon, including outside and onto the ship.
How to Collect Every Creature in the Bestiary
Your collection lives in the Bestiary, which you open from the ship's terminal by typing "Bestiary." A creature gets its entry once you scan it with the scanner, and each entry explains how that creature behaves and how to handle it. You can't fill the list by reading about creatures alone, so you need to meet them and scan them.
The Feiopar is native to the forest moons, so a trip there helps you finish the list. The Backwater Gunkfish roams the Factory and Mineshaft, so search those spots when you're working toward it.
FAQ
Is the Kidnapper Fox in Lethal Company?
Yes. It hides inside Vain Shrouds and drags isolated players with its tongue. It can't appear at the very start of a day.
Is Vain Shroud a creature?
No. It's treated as a hazard rather than a creature, but it matters because the Kidnapper Fox lives inside Vain Shrouds.
